i just got my copy of the new robocop movie , and got this idea- there was the scene where alex murphy regains consciousness after his cybernetic conversion, being reduced to a head ,a pair of lungs , and an artificial heart. needless to say he had a very difficult time coping . adapting this to mutant epoch , a cyborg character might have to make a hazard check with a failure resulting a form of insanity.a cyborg might have to make this check every time he/ she gets a new implant , with increasing difficulty as the percentage of implants to original parts increase.

I concur. Had a similar thought. "I also think borgs should be more affected by their implants. Maybe reduce WIL by a certain number per implant if they fail a WIL HC. The HC could get progressively worse because WIL is reduced. I thought the APP penalty for each implant would work out fine. WIL and APP could be used as a "reaction mod" for other people they meet. After so many implants, it might be harder to relate to "normal" people. Also, the more machine parts, the closer you might be related to Mech factions and who knows if you're a spy for your robot masters.. WIL penalty could be treated like stun damage. It only affects your interactions with others, not your chance to quit smoking, etc. There has to be some reaction when you pick up the kids from day care and the other parents notice your heavy machine gun arm. Cyber psychosis.
Imagine with implants the world is never night to you.
Imagine hearing everything anyone ever whispers near you.
Imagine being clinically dead for five minutes before you drop...
Mutants can OD on power, Pure Strains on righteousness and cyborgs lose "touch" with reality.
Darth Vader could have tossed Luke into the wall. Instead he cut his hand off. Think He had memories of when he first lost the "feel" of the world?
The purpose of great sci fi is to examine our world in a new format. Of course cyborgs are going to feel different than non-cyborgs.
They are referred to in derogatory terms. "Strap On" doesn't seem to be a complement.
