The original Renault FT build spec and schematics are in the hands of the Vicar himself. The Vicar in my game is a strategic mastermind with limited forces and tech to accomplish most of his plans. However the Renault FT is small enough to mass produce scrap versions of and remain cost effective. For every one normal scrap tank produced three scrap Reanault FT can be manufactured. Ammo for the gun is very expensive to replicate in the purist empire. So the Vicar had his holy Mechanics and Junkcrafters work together to create semi-automatic , reloadable ballista mounted on top of the Renault's that can be control by the gunner from inside the Renault. Most purist Renault FT's are of this type but there are at least a dozen fully replicated Renualt FT'S complete with full ammo mag and cannon within the walls of the purist nation patroling the interior.

When i read about the Purist empire a couple things jumped out at me. First is that they sound very much like the humans from Warhammer 40k, far be it a very dumbed down primate variation at best but almost similar in mythos. Second because of the totalitarionism feel of the purist imperial government and their insignia, i find myself reminded of the nazi's of WW2 only they are hardcore catholic's. This struck me as an odd mix of theme but eerily it makes sense to me. So i decided to make them similar to a evil version of a pre-brotherhood of steel order with the Vicar being much the same as Pope Sextus Borgia. Corrupt and vengeful in the extreme. IDK i guess they are a mix of Nazi, Borgia, Warhammer, and brotherhood ideals and beliefs all mashed together in my mind.

To answer your question about the DOA contending with the Renault FT'S is simple. most of the battles are fought in the twisted forest, and along the forest road an barrier river. Along the barrier river in the open fields that surrounds Fort Stalwart, the Ballista Renault FT'S can be very destructive to enemiy forces trying to advance across the open field to Stalwart. But along the forest road or in the twisted wood itself the renaults can become swarmed easely and destroyed, unless protected by ACG and FCB forces. In my game the Empire has about thirty of these Renault FT tanks and roughly between 5-15 normal tanks in their Armored Corps. Anymore then that would cost to much for the limited economy of the purist empire to maintain.

I can see the connection to WH40k humans, but at least the humans there have a good reason to be such xenophobes, because the gods of chaos and also most everything is trying to kill each other. The way i see it is WH40k humans except more racist, and every other world except holy terra is a feudal world, and only the rich in holy terra can afford the niceties.

Maybe the officers can carry a Webley Fosbery and wear uniforms like Zed from Zardoz. www.imfdb.org/wiki/ZardozIt is a cool looking piece.

Oh god no! Zardoz was an insane movie. I am Still scarred by that movie. If the Purists officers wore uniforms like zed they would get killed so hard in my campaign that all officers in everyone's epoch campaign would simultaneously die. I forgot that he uses a webley in that movie Prov13. Its a good pistol and reliable too. i love WW1 tech and the purists were a perfect fit for that level of technology.

I am addicted to the study of World War One these days, and fascinated with the first tanks on the scene.
Anyhow, to the very first post in this thread, the aspect of Post-Apocalyptic armies in the Mutant Epoch. I think one thing that would happen is as soon as the sight of armies gathering and facing off, predators, humanoid and animal scavengers would hurry to the edges and rear of these forces knowing that easy pickings will soon be had.
A friend of mine, who is a big time hunter, says that around here, in the middle of British Columbia, when he shoots a deer or elk, it is a dinner bell for the local bears. The bruins know that an easy meal of the gut bag will be left in the field after the hunters move on. That said, target shooting may also bring bears looking to scavenge, but not find what they were looking for and perhaps get frustrated. Would a Devi-Bear also do this, say, following in the wake of an excavator party, snacking on the dead of the fallen?
Interesting stuff and a great thread here, folks! WM

"The gun is good" - "The penis is evil - the penis shoots seeds and makes new life to poison the earth with a plague of men ... but the gun shoots death and purifies the earth of the plague .. go forth and kill.. Zardoz has spoken". Then the giant flying head (which is the pickup truck/lorry to transport grain from the outlands) vomits forth all manner of weapons and ammo. Start with some primitive "after the fall of civilization" PSH. Have selective breeding (based on social structure/skill at killing) to obtain certain traits. Teach them to use weapons and their right of dominion over others. When they die in the service of Zardoz, they may enter the Tabernacle/afterlife. A reward that requires no proof. Once they are ready,(ie, skilled and practiced at killing) allow them into your force field and AI protected, incredibly powerful, mental ghost mutant immortal clone enclave.Disrupt society and kill everyone there. Now the immortals in the Tabernacle won't be imprisoned by the constant repetition of perpetual cloning. They can finally die. ..with semi-brief nudity. Dude.. What's not to like? Sounds like it would fit into TME beautifully.

Your probably right about that! Its so off the wall zany it just might work, but im not going to come up with the campaign for it. My players would probably , first: not know the movie Zardoz but be weired out by it just the same, Second: they would probably take the exterminator buisness a little to far. and thirdly: steal the Zardoz head and crash the thing into the tabernacle at full speed loaded up to the teeth with explosives. "to the teeth". Heck why stop there! if the Flying head thingy can vomit guns then why cant it vomit explosives down onto the tabernacle? Now thats something i could use in the Epoch ! A giant flying head shaped ship that vomit's explosives on the enemy! Zardoz was such a warped movie! Facepalm

What made me think about it at all were 2 things. 1. The Webley 2. Tactics Even if there is an impenetrable force field protecting the smarty pants, it was transparent!(but did have a recorded voice warning if you got too close..) Once they got a man on the inside, all it took were hand signals to communicate with PSH on the outside. The Immortals had AI and Telepathy and Stunning Mind Powers (and bad erotic movies) while the Brutals used basically flags from 1/4 mile away, but that was enough. "The shield's going down at this time, hang out until my signal. Then bring the guns.." Hey, if you watched the Book of Eli, then you watched a watered down version of what is Zed. I'll bet Eli never said "Stay close to me - inside my aura!"

The book of Eli was an interesting movie. I cant decide whether or not i liked it. It had some cool action scenes and some visually striking ones too. But the story only barely held me onto it. It would be funny to me if he went threw all of that to get the bible to those people at the end of the movie and then those people ended up turning into the Holy Purist Empire down the road lol. In the epoch it would be kinda cool i think to have cities out on the ocean much like in waterworld. They could be another faction in the region when they are discovered. Of course they would have huge disadvantages on land.

I really liked the book of eli, perhaps a "from their perspective" campaign where you run as purists in a foreign land where they're oppressed, and you're trying to smuggle purist contraband and stuff. would be interesting.
