In my PbP TME game I run, for all the players who don't own the book (Which is naturally, all of them, except one) i write little blurbs like this
And the idea came to me, a book meant solely for the player, to help get him into what the TME setting is. Just a thought of course though, but i thought it would be pretty interesting. Perhaps like a man in junk armor with a greatsword and a crossbow walking next to a person in full combat armor and with a machinegun to give the flavor of how this game is.

I like it! I think its a great idea. There is so much information in the core books that its a bit overwhelming for the GM to somehow get all that info out to the player. The handbook wouldn't have to be a big book either. Just a brief break down of things to do, best places to go to make loot, what cities to visit, basic survival tactics for traveling the wastes etc., etc.

yeah i find myself breaking everything down into parts. like Armor Pt.1 or Crossroads Factions Pt.1 i have like 2 whole books to convey to my players. It's a little intimidating.

I can imagine its not an easy task. The game is so rich with story and stats that it must take a lot of prep work for you to play online. Stick with it ecocola! your doing a great job so far based on what you have posted on the forum. Who knows maybe WM has already got a handbook idea in the works.

I've never done anything like that; sounds fun. Wish I could type faster as I'm sure that helps online play.
Would it be more or less work to make a book for each PC? Yeah, that sounds like a lot, but when you're done, the info in that book is all they know. It's up to them to keep it updated. After they receive the Chargen Book, or you walk through it with them, they get a detailed analysis of everything the character can do. They can lift X amount. You get exactly Y attacks/rnd melee OR Z/rnd ranged (with that specific weapon). Here's where you learned this or that skill. These were your teachers.. Home Settlement Determination and how they traveled to the PC's starting point might be all they know of the area. You wouldn't have to explain or detail much else except general rumors (which might not be true) they heard along the way. Just a shot in the dark. Don't know if that helps.
