Beastiary and Expansion Questions
by Gamma_Lich » Sat Nov 05, 2011 12:13 pm
I know it is early, but...
Beastiary:
What new mutant animals can we guess at?
Would it include mecha forces and or corporate armies?
Expansion:
Can you give us brief descriptions of new character type?
Are there any new features in the Expansion, new rules?
Can you give us brief overview of the mutations and implants inside the book?
Could there be more expansions?

Hey Gamma Lich,
I'll have to get back to you on the Expansion Rules book, although new character types include Parasites, The Rebuilt (organic variants), Abominations, Grafters, Self Aware Androids, Vat-Brains (human brains living in a vat of nutrients inside a robotic body), and hopefully digital beings. We will also be adding a ton of new beastial human variants, many of which the forum members here have also created so we will see if we can adjust ours to incorporate TME gamer versions.
As for Mutant Beastiary One, that book is quite far along and in final edits and interior art phase... so here are the table of contents for you to get a look at some of the critters your players will have to cope with... enjoy WM

Awesome. Any idea on release date?
We need PLANT characters!

Yes, plant characters are one of the most asked for freaks out there. My brother in law is a botanist so whenever we get together I ask him all sorts of questions, usually about carnivorous or dangerous plants. Right now we are thinking that plant and human DNA mixtures, just to the player has a character that is vaguely human in shape, has at least one hand-like appendage, and can talk and interact with fellow PCs and NPCs.
I used to have a intelligent mutant carrot character. Should look for that.
AS for the Mutant Beastiary book... er... its sitting in queue behind the Pitford Book and the Crossroads Regional Gazetteer book. Going to be in the spring I think, but, I'll talk to some of my associates on Wednesday and see what they think. Kinda would like to be working on it now as I love monsters. Big reason why I got into the RPG racket.

Thanks for answering, they all look fierce.
It has been mentioned that there could be dimensional beings and living portals, could you elaborate?
Also there was supposed to be a new character type called a halfsie if I recall? What happened to that?
How can we make new types?

Yeah, halfies have to wait until the Mutant Beastiary One book is out because so many new humanoids listed in the article are from that upcoming book.

How can mutations be expanded upon, something like minor weather control?
The same goes for implants, when can we get robotic legs that can create robotic ants to swarm over enemies, or even nanotechnology?
Re: Beastiary and Expansion Questions

Every new mutation, Implant, skill and character type that we come up with, along with many that have been created by forum members, will be going into the expansion rules book. There is a huge folder of small files for this new book, which needs to be organized and re-written, but it is coming.
In the meantime, your own new mutations and implants are the most important. I'd create my own binder of new character add-on's and make all new generation tables using the implants and mutations from the Hub Rules and created new random lists, or, if you've made enough new mutations and implants, allow players to roll once on your own table and then the next add-on from the hub rules. In that way your own creations occur more often.
