Hey, honey. I hope this message finds you well. My first day on the job has been interesting.
Security here is tight, so don’t worry. At first, the AI didn't want to let me in past the vestibule scan. The techs told me it was a contaminant in the scanners or some such. They got that dialed in, eventually. My indoctrination virus is giving me a little trouble. I overheard the nurse say it was based on rhinovirus; thought you’d find that interesting. That’s why I had to fly down here the weekend before officially starting work. Give it time to dig in. You know I never cared for the squishy sciences. Runny nose and random sneezing slowed down my presentation this morning but the boss was sympathetic. Some people react differently, he said. Weird thing is the moment I walked in I knew the general layout of the building, fire exits and who works on my floor. Maybe I've been dreaming about them all weekend. It’s like they were old friends from the school crèche when I was a kid, but I know we've never met.
I'm surprised that everyone is so nice. Hell, the security bots are even polite. They already know my name and imprinted my face so no tense moments like in Singapore last year. It’s funny that they write the protocols, but their bots still have hiccups. Anyway, my office droid is great and already reminded me about the kid’s birthdays, so don’t worry. She even ordered a Companion Bear for Jason so we don’t have to worry about him being alone if you want to go back to work like we discussed. Don’t think you have to, just reminding you of my loving support. I know how much you miss the lab. With my higher caste pay scale we can afford it either way.
There have been a few protesters outside the building’s control zone but I hear that's not unusual for a multi-nat of this size. Everyone has an ax to grind. The post will likely involve long days and I was reminded about the coffin sleepers in the basement if I ever needed to crash here. They aren't packed as tight as my last overseas trip. At least I wouldn't have to shower in my bunk, haha!

Sorry I haven’t written lately but I loved talking to you and the kids. Tell them I took their advice and bought a plant. They can name it.
You should see this place! The sprawling grounds are gorgeous. You could fit our entire neighborhood within these gates. I can’t even see some of the other labs from my office. They probably designed it that way. It's been crazy busy here. Today, they sent a volantor to pick me up. Said it was a courtesy for my job performance, but it makes me wonder what goes on in the other buildings because I’ve seen some strange looking cars landing on our roof. I don’t think they’re civilian ospreys. They look more like military aerodyne vehicles.
The protesters I told you about are becoming more agitated by the day. I think they look for the most Affected people to get better media coverage. My heart goes out to them, but what can I do? If they’d just go to the Gene-Correction centers, they could get help, right? They don’t want help. These people just want hand-outs.

Hey, honey, it’s a roller coaster here and I’m always busy with projects. Also, I got that promotion! Start looking for a house and let’s think about those zygotes you've had your eye on, okay? Never mind what I said. I've earned some time off next month and I'd like to spend it with my family.
Did you see me on the news? Try not to worry, the Facetime coverage has been cherry picked and edited to make it look worse than it is. Still, there are a lot more bots here than when I started. Funny thing happened the other night. I saw someone or something jump the fence, dodge the stunners and take out one of our Ericson 2500’s. I don’t think it was a borg like in the US/SAR conflict. This looked, more organic, like a man. It must have had a scrambler or Tesla-Touch emp ‘cause the machine went down. One of our new security Andy’s got it with a DEW carbine of some kind. You don’t usually see that kind of deterrent for local security. Anyway, it was cleaned up quick as a flash and I don’t think anyone noticed me out for a smoke. No, I didn't start back so much as they’re issued. Yeah, Chelating Cools aren't so bad and nicotine is still one of the fastest delivery systems. At least I didn't have to complete the Medication Dispensation forms. Makes me wonder what radiation leak warranted that, though.
Hey, AI security is getting tighter so I don’t know how much longer I can write you, unedited. Don’t be surprised if one day some things are blacked out. Give my love to the kids and parrot-jays. I hope they've learned some new words that can be used in polite company.
