Ok so I'm a noob. So first question is. Is base strike value. Calculated off your accuracy solely. Dose that apply to ballistic and mealy. So second question is. Grappling. I see some letters. But nothing explaining them. Anybody know. Other than that love what I read so far. Any help would be great

Ok got it dumb question. Everyone starts at a flat 50 to start. Couldn't quit grasp it. But still grappling. Why dose grappling have letters but no numbers besides them. If it's a simple explanation I would love to hear it. I'm still only a couple days into hashing ot the system

Essentially, each letter corresponds to a Hazard level where the further down the alphabet you go, the harder the challenge to beat it is. If you look up the Hazard Check Table (I think it's on the first page of the Hazards chapter?), you can see the corresponding percentage to succeed when crossed with whatever trait is used by the character in the challenge.

I responded as "Excavator Extraordinaire" since I wasn't able to log in at the time. Got the book at hand now too, so I can check the page numbers and give an example if need be. The Hazard Checks Table is on page 118 in the Hub Rules book, the first page of the Hazards chapter as I stated previously under my pseudonym. With most skills you use that table to determine what percentage of difficulty to roll against when trying to complete a task or deal with a hazard. With grappling in particular, the TARGET of the grapple needs to make a strength roll vs whatever number on the table on page 118 that corresponds with the hazard level (letter) of the GRAPPLER'S skill. Hope the explanation helps.
