We started our first ever Mutant Epoch adventure last night. It went really well. They started down the river and bumped into the Garnock and poled away holding their bladders. Later bumping into Drena and Jax and Pollard. Saw a Giant gator, and met some Reptilius. We tried out the Combat rules the Hazard check chart and even used Morale in the Chainsaw fight with the Skullock brute and his Skullock followers. They got treated like heroes and loved it (And hated Boss Gus the Fair, everytime he reminded them that they aren't heroes there just pole boys and girls who's families owe me debts.) They chose to help the village even against Boss Gus's suggestion to pole on. So they killed him and left Oliver. We stopped there after they got their items from Capt. Basher.
It was a blast. I haven't had so much fun running a game in awhile. I gave them free reign on their decisions and will let them see the consequences of those decisions. The biggest fun came from looting the bodies and rolling up what they found (Several dead rats and rabbit's foots) I let them roll and enjoyed reading out the results. I loved it when they realized bits of plastic are worth money.
The feel and flavor of this adventure is great. The hot sticky feel and the rain. I being from south Florida and actually fishing in the everglades can tell you gators are not fun but rarely mess with you (unless your just that easy) I know the feeling of the temperature. I could feel the film of sweat on my skin and then that burst of rain like a shower from God Almighty. The bugs, the air, It was all there.
Thank You Mutant Lord for making an awesome game with such detail. Your art is wonderful. Never stop doing what you love.
