Setback and Surgery
I suffered a Retinal Tear to my right eye. The good news is that as soon as it happened the other day I suspected there was a problem because of the sudden specks and tar-like streaks, although felt no pain. I got to the eye doctor who confirmed the rip, but to avoid a full detachment I needed emergency laser surgery.
Again, having good luck in a shitty situation, a retinal specialist just happened to be in Kamloops the next day and after some false starts I was able to undergo the intense procedure and sent home. That was the day before yesterday, and I am told not to try and work until Monday.
The bad news is that as things stand now I could neither draw, edit or write as the black crows and specks in my eye are swirling about and the eye unusable.
Doctors say these dark swarms will fade as my body absorbs the gunk (blood). I will see a specialist on Thursday to find out how long this will take, and am trying to be optimistic that this event will not harm my ability to draw and paint.
At any rate, we will still proceed to set up the Outland Arts booth at Attack-X here in Kamloops this weekend. Might not be able to draw tour characters but am eager to chat, game, catch up with local TME fans, gamers and visitors!
