Epoch+Disgenesia

Has anybody here heard of Disgenesia (http://maledictus.com.mx/disgenesia/)? It's a freeware rpg by Aldo Ojeda, mixing a cyberpunk/arcology with a disenfranchised mutant population. I was thinking it would be a hoot to run it with Mutant Epoch, to expand the mutations and equipment in Disgenesia, if nothing else. The problem I'm foreseeing is with equipment. First off, Disgenesia gives characters are starting budget ($400) to purchase gear. Everything is below ~$500. To me, the Mutant Epoch prices are fine as is, both to reflect inflation, and as a demonstration of the discrimination mutants face in the game. So, I was thinking of giving starting players 5,000 sp as a starting budget. I'm trying to limit the firepower starting characters can get ahold of, while still preserving the flavor of Disgenesia's starting gear. Has anybody tried a character budget with the Hub Rules? If so, did the added equipment skew any of the encounters?

Hey that looks like a great game/resource. I'll have to investigate it once I am done mowing the lawn. Thanks for sharing DISGENSIA.

Okay, I tried it (5,000 sp starting budget) out with a group of 3 players/6 characters. The players were all somewhat to moderately familiar with roleplaying and old school tricks. It definitely lengthens character creation, as each player took awhile to make their equipment choices. My first hunch was to try rolling encounters on the mid rank character level table for street and skyscraper environs. That was... brutal. So, we tried a few encounters using the low rank. I'm not truly familiar with the feel of the game yet, but these felt a little easy. A quick solution was to use the low rank tables, adding 25% (round up) more goons from the base rolled amount. I made some "Uplifted Gorillas" (Disgenesia, pg. 20) by beefing up the Warmorts. They did well as hardcore, corporate bodyguards. It's doubtful any of this is really good as a house rule, as it struck me as a "your mileage may vary" situation, but if anybody else tries it, please let me know.
On a side note, the "Pick Locks" skill, particularly the columns for "Relic Digital Lock" and "Relic Security Door" (TME Core, pg. 48) worked great as an impromptu computer hacking hazard check set, since nobody rolled any technician skills.

Like what you did with the lock picking table alternate use, and thanks for the update on the recent session. I love reading that sort of stuff!

Yeah, Disgenesia does a lot with a little. Check out the "Keetons", too. They're twelve exact clones of the same individual, though each has it's own mental disorder.
Your blog is awesome, by the way.

I agree, allows for a lot of coolness with minimal stuff. The Keetons are cool also.
Thanks if your meaning me, if not *doh*. : )

I've been reading "Green Skeleton" for about four months now. It's a hoot. I definitely enjoy all your "Mutant Future" builds. I hope you'll stat up some more stuff for "Epoch".
Hey,
Thanks for the links and the compliments! I've had fun with my blog, just haven't had as much time to devote to it as I'd like too lately. More Mutant Epoch stuff is definitely on my agenda, real life just keeps interfering with my "fun time". : )
Good Gaming!
