Hi All,
Can anyone tell me if there is a method in the rulebook for determining what rank a randomly rolled mutation is for a creature (not a PC)?
Thanks!

A good question. Not sure myself - and thoughts on this, Powers That Be?

When in doubt refer to something you do know, so treat the creature as a PC.

Thanks for replies.
I was thinking after I posted that you could probably base it on the average or highest rank of the PCs. Other than that other possibile ways I could see how you could decide the "rank" of a creature might be based on cross-referencing their SV with PC rank SV on table 1-21or somehow base it on their experience factor value or you could roll a d10 or d20? Thoughts?
Maybe this could be something discussed in the eagerly awaited expansion rules, along with general rules for building your own creatures? Though I know re-skinning existing creatures is relatively easy it might be nice to have guidelines for assigning experience factors.

(I ain't one of the Powers that Be but here is my two cents worth)
It should also be noted that creature mutations do not necessarily follow the PC mutation usage/day limitations, many in the Bestiary & Creatures of the Apocalypse have way more uses a day (several list uses per HOUR) then even a high rank PC could have. Just saying...
Oh & don't hold your breath on the Expansion Rules book, it's in production. It was in production in 2016 when I first asked about it. Unfortunately I am not holding out any real hope for a 2019 release ...

Don't take anything I say as gospel thou, I don't have any connection to the MutantLord himself, just my observations after almost four and a half years of being here. The Expansion is closer to finished now than it was then but the process is VERY slow unfortunately.
Also, I'm a pessimist after 4+ years. *shrug*

I am really looking forward to mutant plant PCs! Since growing up with Gamma World 1st and 2nd edition, gonzo post-apoc without plantoids feels like it is missing something vital, like a plate of meat without any veggies What are you guys/gals looking forward to most from the expansion rules?

Looking forward to the Robot/Android characters myself. Synthetics should be very interesting in a Post-Apoc setting as playable types. They make vicious enemies but without some kind of major force behind them (Mecha-Hives or [re-Fall automated maintenance systems in this case) they will rapidly dwindle in power. Being on the run from a Hive or simply trying to avoid their notice ON TOP of keeping some trigger happy excavator or Merc from blowing you to recyclable bits could prove challenging. Not to mention maintenance/upkeep & securing a power/recharging source (without exposing yourself to any of the above) should prove... interesting to say the least.

I'm also looking forward to the plants. Imagine seeing a forest in the middle of the ruins... and then seeing them move towards you!
