What To Expect-G_L
by Gamma_Lich » Wed Apr 27, 2011 3:01 am
Howdy to everyone, I have a few Character Type ideas that I could use some feedback on. Thing is, I am good with ideas but not so good at stats, so any help would be appreciated.
+ Sentient Solid- A humanoid being made out of a solid, such as stone or diamond, that has become sentient.
+ Sentient Liquid- A humanoid being made out of a liquid, such as water or oil, that has become sentient.
+ Sentient Gas- A humanoid being made out of a gas, such as oxygen or nitrogen, that has become sentient.
+Energy Being- An entity made entirely of energy, can appear as humanoid or almost anything else.
+Undead- The reanimated and mutated bodies of the dead.
+Swarm- One mind in control of many small bodies, such as locust or cell phones.
Any feedback would help.
Gotcha and that makes sense. I actually thought it was being used in a beneficial sense like the old D&D Monk ability.

Some really cool ideas there, have you done anymore development on them since you posted this?

Sorry, I have made some progress, but my search for a summer job has been eating up my time.
But here are some expanded concepts to help...
+Sentient Solids, Liquids, and Gases were create by the OverMatter Incorporated, who specialized in creating new forms of matter. They had developed a way to create lifeforms made of a inanimate mass, and sold them who anyone who would buy. Imagine, turning the very earth into an army, spies that could appear anywhere that had running water, and assassins that could kill from inside your own lungs. A few thousand of each kind were sent into storage or were recently created by the curious or foolish at OverMatter Labs.
+Energy Beings are beings that are not made of matter. Their recent appearance is the stuff of many rumors and legends. Some say they are humans who "ascended" by means of an accident, while others say that they come from another dimension or several to explore the wasteland of the world. Regardless or origins, everyone agrees they are in a league of their on in terms of abilities, from energy constructs to minor reality warping.
+Undead or Reanimated lifeforms a beings who were once dead but have gain existence once again or are made of remains that have gained life. These beings differ from other feral zombies in that they have no hunger for flesh and they have intelligent thought. Reanimated beings also gain mutations that can be described as grotesque, such as turning your intestines into serpent/lamprey-like lifeforms to attack or twist your bones into weapons.
+Swarms are one mind spread over many smaller bodies. Using their small forms and united thoughts, they can attack in sync and become excellent in searching an area. They can be nearly anything, from animated cell phones to walking mushrooms. If some are destroyed, they can be replaced but it takes time and energy that could leave the whole swarm vulnerable to attack.
So I hope this fires up some feedback and answers some questions.

Wow, those character type-lifeform concepts stretch my mind. Putting them into game terms would be fascinating, especially how to make them balanced like other PCs in a session...although close blow for blow balance is nearly impossible to achieve in a game where cyborg gladiators go on missions alongside pure stock scribes.
