Would really like a definitive ruling from ye all knowing & all powerful Mutant Lord! Thank you in advance!
Ok, I recently had a player pose a question about what version of the Endurance score one would use to calculate the 20% increase. It is a good question I felt deserved an "official" answer to if possible.
The situation:
Character #1 is a Cyborg. My ruling on it was that as it is pointed at in the TME Rules that the "Base" END score (that being the score before any implant mods are applied) was to be used for the 20% increase calculation. I agree with this apparent rule since implants are mechanical augmentations to the existing organic being.
Character #2 is a Mutant. Now I personally have been using the "Base" END score (that being the score before any mutation mods are applied) was to be used for the 20% increase calculation.
His argument is that mutations are a biological modification to the original organic being (from birth) & that mutational mods should be included in the END score used to calculate the 20% (which in his case would be a substantial change, his "Base" END score was 45 but his END score after mutational mods was 93 (thus if the "Base" score is used to calculate his 20% increase he would only receive +9 END but if the mutation mods are included it would be +18.6 rounded up to +19 END).
The have yet to achieve 2nd rank (although they are close) & I would like the "official" take on this before they do rank up.
His argument is persuasive since the mutations are literally "natural" to the mutant as opposed to "artificial" augmentations added to the being after birth & biological maturity.
BTW, the cyborg's player is actually on the mutant player's side, sighting the same reasons I used to limit his cyborg to "base" END for the calculation (that cybernetics are artificial & are added after biological development has occurred) as a reason the mutational mods should be included in the mutant character's +20% END for 2nd Rank (being they are part of the mutant from birth & therefore a "natural" part of him).
I realize I could just rule as GM to use my take on it but his question raised some doubts in my mind & it seems a bit hazy rule-wise so, being a good GM who isn't an egomaniac, I felt it my duty to the players to pose the question here.
