Hey! Her early stuff wasn't that bad.. "Paul ordered primavera while studying pre-med and flirting with a prima donna that looked like pre-Madonna." But seriously, I agree with rex! "This campaign will revolve around a small town uncovering an ancient relic facility. A hand picked group of militia conscripts have been drafted, trained and equipped to explore the complex." By the second or third game, the PC's may encounter a hydrogen sulfide cryonics lab. Beauticians, accountants and telephone sanitizers were frozen to test the equipment for the scientists. Most of the units failed. If you don't want to play militia, let's roll to see which of these highly trained slush puppies is still viable as a PC.

If this is the same player as before then he sounds like a pre-madonna! I dont want to hate on anyones players but this guy is even making me angry and i dont know him or play with him at all. Is he below the age of thirteen? If not i would tell him to act his age and not his shoe size an just take the character that he is given. If he doesnt like the character he rolled up then he can take a hike because thats roll playing. Its not always the character you want to play. There is some pride in takeing a character that is weak and or pathetic from the start and roleplaying them smartly into an amazing character down the road. That you alone built up, its an accomplishment. Well i mean he rolled a merc, but since last time we got so many powerhouse classes. and this new campaign I wanted a much lower tech level and i wanted a little less "Do i buy the heavy laser carbine or the combat armor" and a little more "Do i buy the chainmail, or 3 more pistol rounds?" Elite Soldiers Assassins and (sorta) mercs went against it for me. so he rolled merc, and then he rolled a draftee. I was delighted that he rolled the latter because i honestly thought that would be fun! But nope I could tell he wouldn't like it so i just let him be the one merc of the party. Basically he sees it: Why play a combat class if you aren't the best combat class? He doesn't like the fact that a farmer, or a trader, or a scholar can be out on a dangerous dig, even though i do enjoy the "anyone can take their hand at being an excavator" angle. He insists on hiding characters like that in non-confrontational rolls (i.e. the former trader being a current trader) And i honestly despise that. Also he enjoys high powered "flying around in attack shells gunning down garnock armies" while i prefer, "Oh my god a 400 sp toaster?! PAY DAY!" kind of power level. where you fight tooth and nail through a raider camp or a moaner clan to claim the dinky relic item at the end. Though he put it pretty good, I prefer medieval with tech strewn around. I like the ideas of people riding around on dirt bikes firing muskets at each other, or zooming around the desert in a scrap car with a ballista turret, or the commander of the army shredding through an enemy pike formation by using the last few hundred HMG round he has left, only to be attacked by a thunder bug and them not having any more ammo for the big gun.

"Do i buy the chainmail, or 3 more pistol rounds?" One of my players started with his manacles and one bullet. That was about it. He traded his one bullet for a suit of clothes. Now he's Rank 8 and a bad mamma jamma!

Now he's Rank 8 and a bad mamma jamma! Crap i'd tell him about that but he'd probably come back with, "How many characters died before that?" or something along the lines of that. We're both so incompatible and we know it and we talked about it, but i'm the only other epoch GM around. i've been trying to nudge him into searching for another one. I was so close at one point too and i would have even helped him write up a request (the forum we use has a GM request section) But to no avail

Who cares how many died? Everybody dies. He has no control over when he'll go. He only has control over how he plays until then. You're patient to put up with it this long. How ever you handle it is right for you. Dying is not failure on his part. In my opinion, it's a RPG. You don't win; that's not the point. No one wins. You play. It's fun just to play.

And that brings back to the main point, he doesn't want put life into a character if they're not a cyborg with a force shield, force field, alloy claws, a sniper rifle, and full combat armor.

So why put up with it?

You could have less and less combat. Give experience for non-violent solutions to problems. It's war that made the PA world what it is. He'll drop eventually.

The problem is i enjoy combat, but i do enjoy the "Oh crap i'm down to my last two rounds and 20 endurance. maybe i shouldn't try swinging my sword and shooting anymore" So i would like to give out XP for that sort of thing, should i give out the same for killing the enemy? more? less?

Or let him play his craziness. There are great mutations that do triple damage to cyborgs. It can be a liability..

One of the good things I learned from GM'ing Rolemaster: The more you perform an action, the less experience you receive. After killing 10 Rank 1 people with a sniper rifle at long range, you shouldn't get the same experience as you did when they were equal level/Rank. It's the challenge that drives you to become better and study, train, practice. That's experience, for me. You're the GM.

Alright, but really as a fallback plan i'm going to help him search for a new GM to play the game, so if we still can't settle our disputes, he can just move on. I already have enough of a party who i don't argue with, that i can drop a couple players.

No one says you have to give experience, at all. You're the GM. You could tell them when to Rank. I've done it in other games. It allowed me to focus on the story, helping with character development and making sure everyone had fun. They leveled when I told them to. Everyone advanced at the same rate. What is level/Rank. It's an arbitrary game mechanic denoting knowledge and adaptation to life experiences. You're in charge of game mechanics. You're the GM. My players loved it. It removed competitiveness and reinforced cooperation.

This dude is a flat out punk ecocola! Ban him from your game is the best advice i can give. You will be much happier and have your artistic vision of the epoch back. It wont be held hostage by this asinine player of yours that seems to be stifling your healthy imagination and substituting his own. I hate to say it but this player is like a cancerous tumor attached to your game sucking the life out of it. I encourage you to no longer put up with his BS and move on with the players that respect you and your vision of the epoch and enjoy it. Your the GM and you dont have to put up with this.
