PC races

Hello
Are you going to include robots as a playable race any time soon. If not how would an aspiring mutant lord use them as pc's? Thank you for your time.

Hi G.,
Yes, we are going to have Self aware robots, androids and digital beings in the expansion rules book, along with parasites, abominations and more. A few books to do before that one, however, so in the meantime, If I were going to have robot character, I'd consider a human brain in a nutrient vat living inside a robotic body or a personality recording operational in he unit's CPU. For a body, there are a lot of options. Perhaps have the character roll up traits like a trans human, but then augment it with cybernetic implants that have no biological applications (so no internal food cache, etc.). Yeah, so the PC could have a light or heavy infantry robot as a body, but the personality and mind of a once living person who had his or her brain recorded or inserted into a liquid medium. My guess is that it would be hard to play a generic robot without the ability to talk and get emotional and whatnot when playing a tabletop RPG where communication with fellow players and NPCs is important.
I've always been fascinated with the idea of self aware individual machines. They would need a whole fleet of assorted attachments and software to make a truly cool random robot character generator, like the mutations list, but just for them. I Can hardly wait to organize all the notes on that and make a working generation method. In the Pitford book, starting on page 80 is Techlord's Robotics. Table 3-40 covers a series of tables on making unique robots. Something like that might also work to generate robot characters.
Hope this helps some.
Regards
Will

Thank you very much for the assist. I wait patiently for further books from you. And a off the topic question but a friend of mine said he would love a superhero rpg based off your game too lol. Maybe something for the future of EPOCH.

Super Heros using the Outland System?
by WillMcAusland » Tue Apr 02, 2013 5:51 am
Hi G.,
Whoa, super hero RPG using the Outland System? Man, I bet a GM could snap one together using some of the mutations and implants as guidelines but play the characters in your home town. Maybe have the PC start at 5th to 10th rank. Would be a fun one shot to start with.
I grew up as a big fan of the Fantastic Four. my Brother already claimed Spiderman and the Hulk. Always liked Batman, too.. but Superman... to far into the Godlike to relate to.
Great idea!
