Members needed!!
by Blood axe » Wed Jul 13, 2011 7:55 pm
Greetings fellow Pure Humans & Ghost Mutants!
I’m saddened by the fact there are only 17 members on this forum. 17. Thats it. Perhaps the forum should be opened to all...everyone. Maybe have some 'special' content only for SOE members.
We need more members here. We need to get the word about about this great game.
Thanks!
B.A.

Yes, Blood Axe, I agree that 17 people is a bit light, but man, the people we do have on here are amazing... kinda like having a whole design team sitting around a virtual boardroom table
With the release of The Mall of Doom, there should be a lot more people arriving soon as the adventure has prompted a lot of sales of the hub rules book.
I also agree that some special offer or download or something, given just to forum members is an excellent idea, thanks.

Thanks for all your help and support out there, guys. Something is really working as the sales have been very, very steady. Going to work on some forum member first content and set up a new section just for such content.

Sorry I've been quiet of late, was out of town. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with next! : )

Well, what's next is Excavator Monthly Magazine, Issue 1 is done and we are trying to populate the various online storefronts, but RPGnow and drive thru seem to be having issues with their site, and haven't been able to upload it there yet. We do have the magazine up at lulu for print at $9.99 a copy; however, and I've just ordered a couple to check the print version. I'll be updating the website over he next few days, as well.
If you're curious, here is the enormous link to the magazine's page: www.lulu.com/product/paperback/e ... f/center/9
We bought a trailer so have been camping a lot. While away form the web, other than twitter and email, I have been drawing up a storm and have art done for issue 2 of the magazine. With all four kids home during the summer, it is hard to get as much done as I'd like. Once the cool weather returns, I'll be able to ramp up my creativity and productivity.

Late to the party, but I'm here.
I love the post apocalyptic genre. I wrote about a third of WotC's D20 Apocalypse, plus I helped conceive Nuclear Sunrise, an ongoing tour of post apocalyptic America that was intentionally designed to be very rules light. I'm also a fan of Darwin's World, Gamma World, and Mutant Future.
I spotted the Mutant Epoch when Excavator Monthly #2 was released and hit the front page of RPGNow. I decided to take the plunge, picking up the PDF as well as the print book, which just arrived today. It was actually Tetsubo's Youtube review that made me go from merely curious to a buyer. I'm glad I did. I have to say that the setting is familiar, but it was the rules that really set it apart for me. I know, the rules should serve the game, not the other way around, but I've also been somewhat burned out on D20 and its derivatives, and I've always been partial to d% based systems. This game really scratches that itch. It's not only nice to see the post apocalyptic genre getting some love, but it's also great to see a fresh new gaming system on the market. This book doesn't leave me wanting for content or art. Very impressed!
Although, I am going to have to talk to someone about the nomenclature of the Drader-Cak....

Hey , welcome aboard Mr. D. Yes, what are the odds your last name is also part of the name of a creature. Maybe one of your descendants becomes a bio-engineer and creates the beast?
Your feedback on PA gaming, d20 and The Mutant Epoch is really insightful and encouraging. It made my day,
Thanks for joining us here on the forum,

I agree! I posted a review of TME over on Amazon awhile back, thought that might help some folks look into this great game.

I can think of two things off the top of my head :
1) Get rid of the exclusiveness of the forums. Make it available to EVERYONE. People will be more likely to look in, see what it’s about & get the game. Right now, everyone here has the books, or they wouldn’t be here. We need more members, and more people buying the books!
2) Advertise!! Plenty of gaming sites have free or very low cost advertising. Get the word out. Post some banners & ads. Go to their "Art" sections and post your awesome artwork! That will catch their interest.

I do think opening up the Forums could help. You can still keep bonus content, art etc. in a members only Society section, but having a more available forum might encourage more discussion and more members!!!
Just my 2 cents

+1 on this! I would be all over having at least the forum be open to others. I will admit to being a little discouraged trying to get a little back-and-forth discussion going and not having it go anywhere. There are a number of threads that are ripe for ongoing discussion.

Hmmm, seems like the site needs an overhaul, and I agree putting the forum on the outside of the shell would allow for visitors. I've liked the content of the forum here, but have never been happy with the forum look, the inability to use avatars and a few other things. I would like to learn a bit more about the phpBB software that runs this thing before I tinker with it as I don't want to lose any content before it is moved. Might set up a test forum someplace and experiment there.
Good advice from you all and very appreciated!

Hello, new to the forum here but SOE member for some months now.
I really, really like ME and not just because it reminds me of my old favorite Stormbringer. Especially appreciated are the extraordinary resources here on your home page.
I have bought everything so far. Also, I am going to run some games at a local gaming meetup and see if we can't drum up some more business for you and spread the word. ME is by far the best post apocalyptic rpg I have picked up, and I am a long time rpg gamer.
Keep it up. I will be right here supporting this excellent example of our hobby. I'll probably have some foolish questions as well...
Any idea on when Crossroads and Pitford (full version) might be out, at this point in time?
Re: Members needed!!
by WillMcAusland » Mon Mar 05, 2012 7:24 am
We're just setting up the new work space so been a bit delayed, but are otherwise actively working on the art for the Pitford book while also doing another edit on the Crossroads Regional book. I'd like to announce an official release date, but every time I do that, something seems to come outta of left field and knock that date back. I am aiming at two months tops for Pitford, and another 2 or 3 months for the Crossroads region book.
Hope that helps. Really appreciate everybody's support both on the web and here in the forum, and excellent reviews The Mutant Epoch has been getting. A good,f air review of The Mutant Epoch is worth hundreds of dollars in paid advertising any day. Amazing really.

ME is the very best rpg in this genre I have seen...and I started gaming in 1975.
I'll do what I can to help get it… and you.. the appreciation you deserve. Illustrations on every page, playable system, most every base covered, wow. My hat's off to you, sir.

Hi Wolf,
The original Hub Rules book was also going to have the Crossroads regional book in it, but it would have been too big (Crossroads might be 300 pages), and I knew a lot of gamers like to create their own setting so we decided to separate the books. Also, players can have the Hub Rules but shouldn't know everything about the region. The Regional books have a lot of GM only content, such as encounter tables, secrets, rumors, back story, and environmental hazards that work like mini adventures, so definitely not for the player's eyes.
