So tonight shortly after rescuing Rebecca, back in Walsave, the local Blacksmiths wife invites a few of the PC's to some Hot Tub Time Machine action. Blacksmith walks in on some hot action between his wife and our Cyborg Gladiator Slave and begins to beat him senseless. Even being naked still left our Cyborg with his gun arm as an available combat option so he tries to Call Shot the Blacksmith in the leg and FUMBLES, and winds up shooting one of the other PC's in a nearby Tub, who then gets pissed off not only for being shot but because all the water starts to leak out of his bath...

Kettlebriar, that is great stuff. A gun shot could probably be heard all over town. I wonder how everyone else reacted to that? I went another way with it. The blacksmith and his wife thought they could make some easy silver on the situation. I really liked this option in the book. 2 of the players understood what was going on. It's easier to pay the "fine" than take out the village blacksmith. The party is here to help the town, after all. Another player decided to defend his cash and wanted to fight. Not all of the players have the same level of maturity/understanding and that's ok. Everyone brings something different to the table and it's good to have players. I felt the need to explain that if Walsave (Save at Walsave!) lost this guy, the town could waste away. It was tense for a minute, though. I gave the wife the Flaw of Hormone Disorder: Sexuality. It's not her fault, really.

Lol (its not her fault really) She sounds like Marilyn Monroe bot from red crater now. Yeah, I see what you mean. In my game, the people of Walsave revere Madonna, the musician as a sexy savior/bringer of doom. They pepper their speech with phrases like "Cherish the love, brothers and sisters" to show appreciation and affection. "Papa don't preach" means to hush, stop talking. "We're on the Borderline" is used when things are getting tense or a decision has to be made. Benwad and the citizens will refer to the PC's as Lucky Stars since they killed the raiders.. You get the gist. It's just a way for me to add a bit of color and strangeness to the already strange town. The history of this is a bit nebulous, but it's believed a Madonna (clone) appeared out of the ruins, under the town and bolstered the people into action against some great opposition with her moving performances. This might occur before Benwad's father became CEO of the previous Walsave. It also led to the previous (original?) town being decimated by the opposition.

Now ive heard everything! I dont know what to say to that. Its clearly hilarious and i would probably have a lot of fun playing in your version of walsave but i cant help but ask why madonna of all people? It fits perfect but for some reason it seems too odd, which was what you were going for i presume so mission accomplished then. Your players must have a hard time keeping a straight face when dealing with any of the civilians from walsave im guessing?

It works out. None of us are really big fans, so it's not too funny, just weird.
It also shows how prevalent clones were before the fall. Anything to flesh out the game and give background. That's very important. Why are their so many clones in TME? They must have been fairly common. The players hope to find some of her music in the Mall. They think it can be used to trade for something big, like a plot of land or a house. Their characters don't know that; they're pretty good about keeping that kind of stuff separate.

I would probably not be able to keep a straight face during games sessions. After a couple of sessions though it would become normal i guess and not be so funny to me anymore but thanks for posting this idea because i think ill use it in my campaign too when my PC's play the mall of doom. My group is very silly, Always cracking jokes and only becoming serious when combat is present. This i think will be good comic relief for them. Which is what i honestly thought you were going for with this.
But why Madonna?
I think ill use Cyndi Lauper in my campaign instead. The people can say things like "All through the night" -Town guard with the late watch "Time after time" -Saying that means buisness is closed for the day come back tomorrow. "She Bop" -crude name for a prostitute "True colors" -means someones inner courage is strong

The citizens of Walsave take it seriously. Oh, I do like her stuff! Yeah, she's cool and that sounds neat. I guess it doesn't really matter what you pick. There could be a Nixon clone teaching kids how to read and write or a Pacifist Rambo-like character that won't fight and only wants to go fishing.. I like original ideas and have a few, but I don't mind stealing a bit from history or even pop-culture. Pop-culture seems very important in TME. Even old bits of plastic thingys have value. People in the new era are looking for hope and harking back to a more prosperous time. To quote Asimov: Take an empire that is Roman and you'll find it has a home in all the starry Milky Way.

Deep dude! Ive always DM'ed Dungeons and dragons games which are vastly different from TME. irst there are no guns and second Its hard to use historical figures in D&D, at least the ones in later history. "So a knight that has the appearance of Rocky Balboa crests the hill on his italian stallion and yeah back to his men, FOR ADRIAN!"

I bring this up because i like the idea of using historical figures in TME. Its actually pretty badass that you can have clones of anyone you can think of within recent history in there. I'm definantly going to use lots of historical clones in my game from now on. Marilyn monroe-bot is just that a robot. It didnt click then that i could make robots or people from history until you mentioned that madonna was a clone in your world that climbed out of the mall of doom. I think its going to make for epic epochian battles and story plots. You could have a Super computer with faulty AI that is linked to an underground clones facility. He could have been damaged in the war and made clone armies of hollywood stars to dig out of the facility to get the parts he needs to fix himself, only it took centuries and whole generations of hollywood clones have come to worship this AI as a god. The AI could have eventually succombed to the damages and believed that is is a god. Whole armies of clone action heros like Schwarzenagger, stallone, van dam, Clint Eastwood, chuck norris, etc. could flood out into the world on orders of conquest from the Super computer.

Imagine a thousand Arnolds saying his one liners at the same time? GET TO THE CHOPPA!!!!! One arnold gets wounded in the retreat and another arnold says " we cant, STICK AROUND!" It would be hilarious to hear them all one liner the crap out of each other in combat.

Yeah, man! I like to have just a bit here and there, but that sounds darn cool!
It could be a Logan's Run type affair. This is showing my age a bit, but check out Paranoia if you haven't already.
The Computer is your friend. Obey the Computer. Any citizen with weapons is subject to termination. (All characters start with weapons.) Any citizen with mutations is subject to termination. (All characters have mutations.) Citizens who venture above ground are subject to termination.(The computer sends you on missions above ground.) Obey the Computer
That's why you play one of 7 Roy G. Biv clones. Life expectancy is short!

It would be hilarious to hear them all one liner the crap out of each other in combat. It could also be horrific. I watched Oblivion recently. An army of clones could be a scary thing. My take on the Arnolds would be, if you have the same soldier, genetically, then all you need is one type of bio-weapon to destroy them all. You could even make it a weapon specific to that soldier's physiology and not worry about hurting your own troops. Sorry, I get an idea and my brain just can't let go sometimes.

Logans run is one of the best movies of all time in my opinion. The story is fantasicly simple but so complex at the same time. It really blows my mind everytime i watch it. I was kinda channeling logans run when i made that comment there wasnt i lol? I havent seen OBLIVION yet, Thanks for ruining it for me !!!!!! No just kidding im not one of those people that cares about spoilers. ill still watch it even if you tell me the whole story. There is just so much potential for game play and roleplaying out situtations with hollywood clones. I sense an over abundance of crappy movies one liners and cliches about to play out in my campaign world lol!
