Re: The Town of Chapel [Nolinquisitor's Campaign]

Glad you enjoy.
For the mapping I used Photoshop CS5. This image is a composite of various textures, filters, homemade brushes/patterns and the Google map of the town of Pleasanton, CA. I took some liberties with the map scale since the real map was more like 1 hexe:500 meters. I wanted to start small, with a town the PC's could call their home.
We are in the process of building the town of Chapel, so we haven't play yet but we should have a session in two weeks. I'll post a small review of our session if time allows.
The town is beginning to take shape. The old incinerator is a still functioning ancient structure. The town use to dispose of its waste and for its heat. The nearest ruins are maybe one or two days from Chapel.
For the Carla/Carlos npc, the idea came after the barber shop backstore. It had to be something unique, illegal, risky, weird and interesting. I decided to give her/him a gender switching mutation to "accommodate" the various patrons of the backstore (and maybe create a little bit of discord later on). Ex: "By the way, I highly recommend Carla. If you know what I mean..." "You mean Carlos?" "No... Carla... why?" (LOL)
I made this mutation a minor one since it's not very useful in general compared to other mutations like Radiation Absorption or Immunity. I feel that the transformation should take one month (a cycle often found in nature), but I needed Carla/Carlos to change rapidly. So I added a little bit of variance into this mutation.
Briefly the stats are:
Gender Switching [Minor Mutation]
Range: Personal
Usage: *Roll 1d20 on the table below.
Duration: The user remains in the gender of his choice for as long as he likes.
The mutant have the unsettling ability to switch gender. Most mutants with this ability remains exactly the same size and shape, but there is a 25% chance of having sexual dimorphism, or a change in size and proportions between the genders. Start by generating the height and weight of the female version of the character. The male version will be +0.3 cm taller and +0.1 kg heavier, per point in Appearance, than their female version. The consequence of such an unsettling ability is manifold. The mutant have a 5% chance of having true hermaphrodism and capable of self-reproduction!
Gender Switching Type [1d20]
1: Uncontrollable! Have a 50% chance of happening during a time of stress. It takes 1d6 rounds!
2-10: Once per month
11-14: Once per week
15-17: Once per day
18-19: Once per hour
20: Once per minute
