Ok I have read the TME Hub Rules cover to cover & have found no definitive swim speed rules.
I am currently using the following (but would dearly love to have the official ruling on it):
Can't Swim: barely tread water (no movement speed), if that (Can anyone say "anchor" or "bait"? I thought you could.)
Poor Swimmer: one quarter of (current) Run speed Fair Swimmer: half of (current) Run speed Strong Swimmer: three quarters of (current) Run speed Excellent Swimmer: full (current) Run speed (Current) indicates Run speed modified by all applicable modifiers (positive and negative).
Of course the above swimming ability also uses TME-3-7 for HC roll info.
TIA!

...& this is just another example of why the forums are so dead. No one watches them at all anymore. Sad but unfortunately true...

Thorn, don't you remember the Forum rules? It takes exactly 37 days, 14 hours, 12 minutes and either one or two seconds to get an "official" response. Y'know, it states that quite clearly in the Forum Constitution.
LOL.
Official smishial. What you propose IS official, as far as I'm concerned. Besides, who on the Blasted Earth would want to swim in ANY body of water? They're all icky.

Well you do have those amphibious mutants & there are those out there who can survive a swim in some pretty nasty waterways (massive immune system/immunity for disease, rad, & poison, acid-immune skin, etc... although swimming in the nude ain't my idea of smart in the TME since your gear AIN'T immune 99.9% of the time lol). Although I did roll up a freakish horror mutant who ended up looking like a mutant crab/man hybrid (Hvy shell, 2 claws-arms, immune to disease & poison, had Rad absorption, amphibious, & four tentacles) named him Cutter, . He turned a mutant shark into chum. Of course he died not long afterwards, seems he was unaware of his Intense Allergy to Shellfish & died after consuming a handful of steamed crayfish. Rather ignominious death but hey, you have got to learn your limitations.

Great story. Back in the Gamma World days, I created a mutant plant that was actually a parasite that was attached to a mutant sea turtle, and it could only move/exist underwater. Didn't last long, as you can imagine.
Dude, what country do you live in? Is there any chance we could play TME together, even if online only?

Don't run games much anymore, my group is down to a single player now who hasn't had time in his everyday life to play for over a year (family, house payments, 70+ hr weeks, you know the drill).
Never run an online game. Can't afford to go the d20pro (one I'd pick if I did but $50 is a bit steep for a person living solely on disability) or Fantasy Grounds (no TME support anyhow) software platform route & PBM/E-M never had any allure to me. I'm an old-school in-person play grognard, lol.

I don't believe in all the techno mumbo jumbo people use to game anymore. It's too technical and takes away from the experience of tabletop gaming. If I were ever to do any online gaming, it would be just video, like Skype or Discord.

I have a suspicion (which you can take with a grain or two of salt since I've been working with the QSR for a grand total of 3 days), but I think this might a deliberate "omission" a la OSR where you're expected to make up your own ruling. Kinda like a non-mechanical version of the "what's North and South of the Crossroads map?" where the answer to both questions is "whatever you want.." Are the forums really that dead these days? Does the Mutant Lord read them? How's the game doing sales-wise? The fact that I found it out of the blue after all these years and the fact that a new book came out just a few months ago tells me it must be doing somewhat ok. I think if somebody did a solid let's play series on Youtube for TME it could rope in most of the OSR fan club, all those LotFP and etc people. It's astonishing how well Youtube has done for games like Pathfinder and 5e. TBH the Post-Apoc setting has never really been all that popular that I can tell. Similar for zombies, both huge in the mainstream; books, films, video games, but but for some reason these are settings that never really click with most tabletop RPG play. Don't get me wrong, the books are out there; fuck, Nobilis is out there. But who the hell is playing it? I swear to god I think sometimes 90% of these PbtA games are being played by other RPG developers almost exclusively. Like everybody I've had a collection of hard copy books on my shelves I've never played for decades mostly b/c you can only find 5 people in your circle who play, and most games are too obscure to appeal to the "I play D&D" crowd, which is 90% of the of 5 people you could ever find. But these days with the internet and social media you've got a substantially better chance of playing any setting or any game, including the semi-obscure, "every RPG fan has heard of it but nobody's ever played it" games than ever before; even if you don't want to play online, you could likely use social media to find players, unless you live in a very remote part of the world.

Outland Arts (aka William McAusland, aka The Mutant Lord) is currently "in production" of the TME Expansion Rules (also see: www.outlandarts.com/expansionrules.htm ). Realize that the Mutant Lord is sort of a one man act + a few others when it comes to TME. He has a family & a real life (what's that? lol) outside of the game creation (he is also a free-lance illustrator/artist). Any exposure to new player/buyer bases is, I am sure, a good thing (as long as no copyrights get violated of course). TME uses a very rules-lite style that is easy for new players to understand & for experienced players to learn quickly. As for the forums, they are semi-zombified. I post here from time to time & I try to answer game questions that get asked that I can. I also try to offer useful advice to those who ask questions or want (unofficial) help. I've been here for 4-5 years & there are several others who are semi-active in the forums who have been here far longer then that (a couple actually came over from the original forums that existed before this version). Some other former members have flat-out defected to other Post-A games with faster release schedules & have seemingly totally abandoned TME. As for me, I am a old-school grognard; I started playing/GMing RPGs when I was 10yrs old back in '81 so I've got almost 38 years of experience with every rule system you can imagine (TSR D&D 1st ed-3.5/d20, White Wolf storyteller, almost all the versions of Gamma World, MERP/Iron Crown games, TSR Star Frontiers, Marvel FASERIP system, M&M 2e/3e, Palladium games, plus literally hundreds of others I've taken an interest in over the years, both big & small press). I am disabled so I have time to read & re-read rules, books, & adventures (I am proud to say I own all released TME products to date, all in PDF format, since I have no place for any more hard-copy books in my already crowded small living space! lol). Even though I do not have an active gaming group anymore (most my players have children or grand-children now that, combined with real-life, seems to take up an absurdly large amount of their time, lol) I still create stuff for various games (all non-official/fan-made/free of course, I am in no way an actual content-creator for anyone). For TME I mostly have made a few unofficial robots & a couple of weapons/weapons catalogs. I am awaiting the Expansion rules so that I can create new stuff (androids/robots using the new expansion rules for them) as well as re-writing my old ones to fit any applicable new rules. I personally suggest you pick up a copy of the TME Core Rules & at least the Pitford setting book. The Quick rules are a good intro but they lack allot of the depth/background info that makes TME such a rich & fun setting. Also after buying the Core book you can join (for free) the Society of Excavators & gain access to all the freebies it has (monsters, a couple of relics, & a lot of useful info). Ok this "reply" seems to have become a "rambling commentary" on my part lol. Sorry for any non-topic branches in this reply.
