Beaver Lodge is looking a lot better. I think I'm almost done with it, it'll be an art clip for the Fresno Region to show off the homesteads around Tulare. Work, work, work.

I was thinking of doing a cross section, though each time I started it turned out to look like an ants nest lol. Doing some work right now on a Property and Homesteading doc to go with next months Bounty Hunter issue. Hope you like ticks!

I was thinking of doing a cross section, though each time I started it turned out to look like an ants nest lol. Doing some work right now on a Property and Homesteading doc to go with next months Bounty Hunter issue. Hope you like ticks! One idea would be instead of like an ant hive, the whole town is covered like that. So cramped environments, but lower chances of invaders during the night. Sources of light will be critical. You might have entrances to the main town via underwater, with a secondary city outside for people who are used to breathing air and not swimming. That would have its own defenders, with the families in the central site. Similarly, the beaver men might be more focused on sustainable harvesting of trees, as well as planting extras. Streams would be managed so water flows to the main home, and hydroelectric (or just water wheels) would provide power (electrical or mechanical as appropriate). Streams would also provide methods for them to get away from attackers. To deal with burrowing threats, the main home mound would have lots of poles that are sharpened, so anything trying to tunnel gets steadily skewered by more and more spears. Some beaver men might even set up baits this way, so burrowing creatures dig themselves into the spikes, and the beaver men kill the trapped creature, then skin it, an d sell the meat/hides to travelers (or use it themselves). For philosophy, they might be more focused on 'will this action benefit my family' rather than actions that solely benefit themselves.

Dude, awesome ideas! You've basically just wrote how the town of Tulare would behave. When I'm more lucid I'll write up some stuff and keep this idea wagon rolling.
