From all I am hearing on Twitter & the main site, these novels (which have the potential of a year or more to finish) seem to have displaced the rules expansion to the back burner. I am telling my players to forget any expansion rules in the near future (1yr+) since the creation focus of the designer(s) has clearly shifted to the novels.
--START PERSONAL OPINION-- I personally believe that Mutantlord has too many irons in the fire. Novels, game rules expansion, 1D Digs, who knows what else in the works, plus his real life/family is stretching it. Family takes up the majority of a persons life as is lol. --END PERSONAL OPINION--
Sad as I am to say it, I will check back in around 6 months or so & maybe there will be some change by then, if not, I will most likely stop looking for its release at all. My player deserve better from me as a GM then excuses.
I am moving ahead with my home-brew rules for Androids since I have an expert/experienced player who is begging for the chance to play one. I had hoped to use the official rules by now since my kit-bashed ones will more then likely be incompatible with any official ones that may come out down the road.
This will most likely be my last post on the forums for the near future as well. Mutantlord himself admits he doesn't check in here often & Twitter is only of limited use for discussions/questions/grovelling. I get little or no feedback to posts I make, & even the regulars are conspicuously absent as of late. Take care all (if anyone ever reads this).

Androids should be interesting to set up. Good luck finding spare parts in the wilderness, and most of the working parts are on existing robots that are not likely to give them away.
You don't heal, you require power, and even raw materials to make new parts are extremely rare. Any place outside of a dedicated repair shop simply cannot help you.
That would be even more apocalyptic than a human centered campaign.

I feel your pain Thorneldrich. My post never got answered talking about the same. No traffic here anymore. Im into RPGs not novels about RPGs. Im a huge Mutant epoch fan, but the creator doesnt come here much or post anymore.

Honestly the twitter set-up isn't any better. More of a "Product visibility" data-stream then any thing else. Keeps the TME & Outland Arts names visible to a large audience while really not conveying much in the way of substance. I understand the move to a social media format from a business standpoint but for those of us already fans it is of little use. My attention span is larger then that of a hamster's so I don't find Twitter or the like appealing. I prefer substance & quality over quantity with meaningless "product visibility" messages.
Outland Arts is a very small company so I understand some of the "business model" school of thought. Visibility = Larger Potential Consumer-base.
Unfortunately that style is kinda like Prostitution; Availability over Desirability. Sure you make money in the short-term, but do they come back for more or move on to the next thrill? (or in a more business language format; short-term income over long-term investment). It can be a hard balance to strike.
We don't know the financial & creative demands being placed on them so all we see is the seeming lack of attention to "us" (returning/consistent buyers). If they have time-limited service contracts with the book-writers they may have to focus on the novels over game content to avoid defaulting contractually. Some of those business contracts have draconian default clauses.
I am just sorry that this is how it is playing out. I've already spoke to my players & we are seriously considering putting the TME game on hold for the time being. We will more then likely return to our fantasy RPG game or to a Lovecraftian/Sci-Fi hybrid RPG we have been wanting to run (no game-system names, this IS the TME forum after all).

We knew this a long time ago. In order to promote the game you must establish a background lore. William Mcausland is a visionary, to say the least. He would not stake his claim on the rpg world in such a lax way. From my understanding this man has a passion for rpg's but only equal to his passion for story telling. so it only stands to reason that with the success of the mutant epoch rpg, that a line of books, short stories and such come out from the source author and creator of the mythos. it only perpetuates the genre and helps to bring in new players to the rpg. I think its a brilliant move and I cannot wait to read Williams work in the written word. His art is brilliant and if his novels are the same it will be simply amazing. Bring on the books Wil!

I stepped away from TME a few months ago due to the lack of activity here and the lack of the creator's (or any "staff" member) activity. I think the Mutant Lord may have been a little busier with other projects than he's indicated - I just bought into the new Mutant Crawl Classics Kickstarter and his art is all over it.

To be fair guys, Outland Arts seems to be a mostly one man show. The one man McAusland has a family, real $Paying commercial work and a whole bunch of projects. I think that Outland Arts has been a passion project then a money maker. What may happen is he sells it to a mega gaming corp who then starts developing books and products like crazy. That may or may not increase quality but it will increase quantity and prices. McAusland's approach is to open TME to fan contributions and fiction creation. If fans have not stepped up that is on them, not Will. There are a ton of Meta Alpha and Gamma World versions and clones. The latest one is Mutant Crawl Classics. In looking at it I don't see a big difference between that and old school Gamma World and Mutant Future. Not as creative or imaginative or edgy as TME. In seeing how TSR and Wizards and other game companies came out with book after book, each at $50, I don't think that is ideal or many or most gamers. Ive already spent a bunch on Outland Arts products and related gaming gear. And I get PDFs and softcovers! How hard is it to write your own expansion rules with the community?

If a Mutant Epoch aftermarket gaming industry springs up I will send some cash to people that can write well done, fun rule expansions or adventure modules. I have yet to send my players into space cause there isn't much content that I don't have to write. After beyond Red Crater and new newest adventure with the gut exuders is an obvious space campaign. Much of my love for the game is McAusland's art. I'd like to see awesome art from other artists attached to books by other authors. Always felt the art in the slew of other post apoc books was lacking.

In a one man business, particularly one that is not self sustaining or hugely profitable (post apocalyptic tabletop RPGs being a niche within a niche market) something has to give. Larger companies have full time social media managers who don't do anything else but manage forums, Facebook, etc.
If a change is desired by Mr. McAusland and he asked me for my opinion I'd recommend a Patreon.com type subscription model where the community can get content/guaranteed interaction regularly for a small monthly fee.
Adventurer Conqueror King RPG publisher Autarch Studios does this. There is special content for subscribers, often just a early first look at material before free release. Also there are monthly Google chat meetings with the owner/founder.

One cannot legally produce ME material for sale without infringing on the ME IP.
