Damnation Alley released on DVD and Blu-ray!

I remember watching this movie as a kid. I was excited to see it being released on DVD, and rented it last night. When I watched it back then, I had no idea what an apocalypse even was. The top reason I liked the movie was that tank/APC thing was awesome! The bugs were a close second. For those who have not seen it, the basic story is this... Military personal at a missle base participate in WW3. The U.S. gets the crap knocked out of it, and all the nuke explosions knock the earth off its axis leaving it a mess. Then a catastrophe at said military base later sends its survivors on a mission across the U.S. to check out a radio signal in Albany for other survivors. They make the trip across a route coined Damnation Alley in one of the single coolest looking vehicles called Landmasters, and the fun commences. Watching this movie again after a whole lot of years was fun. Of course back then it was all seriously cool for me. Now I could not help but do a little Mystery Science Theatre 3000 as I watched it. Anyway, the premise for this movie would make for an awesome Mutant Epoch adventure. I was thinking about a group of pure stock humans travelling in an APC across dangerous territory (The only territory in TME!) to accomplish a goal. I got to thinking about how deadly the game world is though and decided if I was to run an adventure like this I'd have to change the name of the Landmaster APC to the Lunch Box...

I totally remember seeing this movie n TV when I was a kid. Same year as Star Wars.
It looks like you can watch it in sections on youtube???
I have been toying with the idea of running a game where all the players, all new to the system and setting, play pure stock humans, perhaps crash landed from a space station escape pod, or awakened from cryo-sleep and must endure the Mutant Epoch without any prior knowledge of creatures or cultures... just like if I took some of my neighbors and dumped them in the year 2364. They would of course have shotguns, a few pistols, rad-suits, basic supplies, and tech skills that would be very valuable to the warlords of the area.

Madwill and I have discussed that type of game. It has all kinds of cool potential! Having the characters being adequately equipped, and trying to make their way through a world gone mad sounds awesome. I love the idea of characters from space crash landing on the planet. Did they escape to the planet? Were they in contact with the planet, and their crashing messed up the proposed meeting? Who else knows they crashed? Who followed them? Who or what were they in contact with? Did they lie? The mind is swimming with ideas! If it were up to me I'd play pure stock humans all the time. I like the challenge of being the "normal" guy.

That one guy was in that TV series about a Helicopter I think....Airwolf?? I’m going on 40 years old, so I remember watching this as a kid. I like those old campy sci-fi movies.
