I actually agree with that statment! A Vectored thrust vehicle would be 100 times cooler anyway. What got me excited was the scrap tank and the gyrocopter from aberrant games! Just get a couple tanks and five gyro's plus some troopers from www.em4miniatures.com/acatalog/Science_Fiction.html and ill be good to go! Purist empire aint nothing to mess with!

Background Story: The Centurion grew up in his herd unremarkable amongst his peers. Until the day he reach adulthood and took up the mantle as a herd guard. He found that he excelled at melee combat and crafting weapons and armor came naturally to him. Over a three year period as a herd guardian he mastered both arts and finally decided to make his own way. So into the wastes he went to use his skills to become wealthy an famous. He did just that! after many successful digs and caravan protection jobs the Centurion came upon what he believed would become his permanent home, Pitford. The Centurion took to the arena like Mozart took to music, it was if he was born for it. Few could match his might and skill, an soon he became the grand champion of the most famous arena in the whole crossroads region. He caught the eye of Mitcho the cruel who made him his personal body guard and backed many of his championship bouts in the arena. The Centurion had finally made it, the fame and glory he had long wanted was his. However it was not to last forever. A group of Excavators from a small trade town called Cacto town came to pitford. This group had made a name for themselves in the wastes, taking on some of the hardest digs and defeating a whole tribe of reptilius. They boasted that they could take the grand champion on as a team and win no matter what minions he might be allowed to back him. Mitcho the Cruel took them up on their offer and bet a large sum of money on his grand champion to win, backed by four garnoks of course! fate was not in the cards for Mitcho or the Centurion that day. At the end of the battle all four garnoks lay dead as well as three of the five Excavators. The Centurion knowing he had been beaten took a knee in honor of his opponents skill and prowess. As one can probably guess this did not go over well with Mitcho the cruel. He ran the Centurion out of town and promised to have him killed if he ever returned. The centurion having no place to go after losing his home and champion status joined the excavator group for a time. But after a few digs separated from them and went in search of himself again and more arena's to fight in. He travels the wastes know as a mercenary for hire and a professional gladiator.

Havent heard any updates on this project in a while. I was wondering if there was any new news regarding the heroes of the epoch and also will the mutant lord you spoke about, will it be in the mutant bestiary one? You had mentioned something about re-doing him.

Id prefer if you try to keep characters to one page per character. It makes them easy to use. Just print off & hand to a player. The best way IMHO is to do what you did in Beyond the Red Crater. A normal character sheet set-up with a character picture in the corner box. Just typed up- NOT hand written. Im more interested in a bunch of pregenerated characters I can use- I don't need backgrounds & stories- I can make that up myself- or the player can. This will save a lot of time for players who want to start a quick game or a Game Master that needs an NPC.

I like what bloodaxe is saying. Each GM will need something different for their individual games. Would it be possible to make a pdf version with different layers? GM's could have a check box layer for basic character; stats, caste, etc.. Background would be another layered check box. Maybe starting equipment and character portraits could be others.. Then you just check what you need, hit Print and you're good to go. Just a thought.

See, I like it both ways personaly. I like characters with a good back story because it saves me the trouble of coming up with one. But at the same time i also like to have some characters like the ones in beyond red crater for my players to just jump into an play. For me having pre-gen NPC's with Backgrounds already typed up is ideal. I can assimilate there story into my campaign and it gives my players more then one story tellers perspective. But also Pre-Gen PC's with no story that are stat'ed up an ready to go without any background story are great too. Pre-Gen PC's with nothing to hold them back are good for players that just want to play or dont want to randomly generate a character. I like to give my players lots of options and choices since its there gaming experience that counts really IMHO. I have fun GM'ing and I'm going to weave an interesting tale no matter what but, if my players dont like it or dont feel that they have some control of where the story goes, it makes it less interesting for everyone. I really just want this book to come out either way because its going to be awesome and a very useful tool for both players and GM's alike!

Yeah, man. With PDF layers, you just pick what you want for the final character. Sometimes it's done with maps. 1 layer for roads, another for buildings, sewer lines, bus routes.. It's great for dungeons, too. Basic layout, furniture, doors. Yet another for secret doors, room numbers.. you get the gist.
Print one version for players and another for GM from the same map.

See that i can rally behind because its the best of both worlds. You can have your cake and eat it too, so to speak. Layers is a great idea for the Heroes of the Epoch PDF but it will pose a problem for the hard copy i think.

Well, maybe something like the other books; extra online content. Buy the book and you get access to a small layered pdf of characters for free... NOTE: I don't represent the company in any way.

The Famous Canobie Lake Park! A teaser for a One day Adventure im currewntly working on. That's AWESOME!! Im very interested, keep us posted. I was planning something similar since I live two miles away from Dorney Park in Pennsylvania.
============= And back to the topic....
Im not against background. But if it needed to be excluded for space or ease of use- I wouldn't be upset. I can come up with a character background in 2 minutes- or the player can. Its all the rolling, and character creation that takes time.

I also wouldnt be upset honestly. I like to read the back ground stories that other people come up with. It inspires me to come up with my own stuff. Yeah man i'll keep you posted on whats going down with the one day adventure. Im trying to get Providence13 to Co-Author it with me. Ill start a new thread this weekend and post some thing. But i dont want to give to much away. Its still far from being down but it should be really good, at least i think it is lol.

Gender: Female Birth: Year: 2445, Month: November, Date: 17 Age: 23 Weight: Height: Skin Color: Pale Hair Color: Black Eye Color: Pale blue Other Features: scar down right cheek

Forced into becoming a street urchin after her entire family was slaughtered en-route as they were relocating to Pitford seeking a safer life, Chaterise is haunted with a sense of misplaced guilt for she believes it was her playing around during a brief breakstop that provided the distraction which allowed a pack of feral garnocks to slaughter her kin. Able to hide within a small pile of rubble, Chaterise witnessed the entire event, the stress of which triggered her latent ghost mutant abilities. Ever since that day, she has been obsessed with constantly scanning her surroundings and dislikes sitting still with a great intensity (when not behind her beloved sniper rifle), which provides a constant source of irritable distraction for those with whom she deals, and she nigh refuses to physically enter a location before having had a chance to scope it out, monitoring every nook and cranny with an intense paranoia – which has been a great boon in helping ferret out secured stashes and troves of long-hidden loot. Chaterise refuses to wear any helmet or gear that would further impede her vision, such as gasmasks or radiation suits, and can only be forced into doing so against her will. Her manic appearance is not helped by her propensity to constantly wearing sets of ocular devices, no matter what their state of repair, which serve as a form of security blanket in keeping her calm and (mostly) under control of her emotions; however, she is always on the lookout for additional implements, and has long sought a cybernetic implant that would allow constant sensory probe launching. She holds a bitter enmity for Garnocks, and if encountering them will instantly try to take them out.

Nothing in the 100's but they are still exceptional, representing a character able to survive (but not over the top). Everyone has a different vibe for their campaign. I'm guessing both WE are 1 skill point? 4 pts in Sniper is no joke! Farsighted is a great flaw for the character.
