Sorry to hear you lost a player. I've had a couple of people that I showed TME to say it looked too over the top for them ( I think the big pincer hands are what turned one player off) but I've had many more that were into it and wanted to play.

Most of the PA games I've seen are gonzo (over the top science fantasy). If they were realistic they'd be dull and depressing. The film "The Road" is realistic. Want to play that? In fact most RPGs are gonzo and totally unrealistic. Thats why we play them. ME is very Gonzo, like Gamma world. You could try to modify the game severely, or try to make it more fun for the player. Or take up a game that she likes. In the end if they are not into it they are not into it. I've had a dozen leave but some stay. Player churn is fact of life. you can't cater to everyone or make them all happy.. Also, roleplaying is mostly male. this isn't a female friendly role playing game. A girl needs to be a tomboy into male hobbies, really into sci fi/sci fantasy or playing with her guy to get into it.

Is a brothel featuring concubine pleasure androids/animated real dolls too gonzo? Only if they're used for that purpose. If you have an android of any type, consider the amount of work they could perform with only an occasional recharge. Chopping wood, cleaning water/air filters, weaving and knitting yarn, feeding chickens, shucking corn..
but such is the desire of man.
