So me and my group have decided to start a fresh game this week with all new characters. I gave them the option of starting in one of the three major factional locations, Aberritia / Purist / Freeholds. They choose Aberritia lol, not what i would have expected but i can work with that. So this saturday they will be rolling up new characters that will all be mutants and or beastials due to Aberritia's strict no human policy. I think it will be a fun campaign and very eye opening. The Mutant Empire is very militaristic and as a result there will be a 70% chance that the players will begin the campaign in the army. There will be a 20% chance that they will begin as mutant farmers or rancheros, and a 10% chance of being shadow minions. Whatever the case might be in regards to there starting postion i have already made up my mind to create a renegade band of Purist empire backed mercenaries based off of the GI Joe Dreadnoks that will be making guerilla strikes into the mutant empire. These strikes will be the focal point of the campaign, the groups mission if army will of course be to stop them. If farmers / rancheros there mission will be to safe gaurd the livestock and food from them, and if shadow minions to infiltrate and eradicate/enslave them. All and All i think it will be a good starting campaign for Aberritia based adventures in the mutant epoch. I shall keep yall posted as the campaign progresses.

DOA doesn't have a strict No Humans policy, (unless you're talking about the army) they have Humans as sort of second class citizens. I always thought of the DOA as the Ottoman Empire, non mutants (or non muslims in the case of the Ottomans) had to pay a tax, and usually held a much lower status. I even thought up of a few ideas like a sort of Janissary regiment, with all pure stocks doctrinated into believing that the mutants are there to inherit the earth, and that they should die glorious deaths in battle killing as many non mutants as possible. With Muskets for the main line (with increased accuracy and strength as per ACC-2 and STR-3 on the typical humans table TME hub rules pg. 137) and the true elites (str-3 and acc-3) having Grenade Launchers and razor swords. To again reflect the janissary equipment of around 18th century Ottoman Empire
I'll shut up now, i went on a historygasm tangent there.

Sorry i meant no human PC policy. Unless they want to keep up the fascade of being a slave all the time i wouldnt recommend playing a human character in a DOA based campaign. However i wont stop any of my players from trying it, i think it would be an incredible challenge to pull off but not impossible. One thing is for sure you dont want to be a human character in the town of banner cove lol! (insert random indiana jones kali ma quote)
that one had me in stiches!

This sounds like a fun campaign. The Dreadnok PSH might have access to more relic tech, but the mutants will have all kinds of coolness. No one in my group started with any real X-men type powers. At R-8, one guy just got Doom Sphere; hasn't used it yet.. I haven't really explored the combat system with regards to extreme mutants. Let us know how it goes.

Military Intro to DOA campaign:
You have studied the battles of old and scraped your way into the ranks of the DOA army. Upon reaching your first assignment located at Rivergard, you and your squad mates where assembled an put to the test. While out on a routine patrol your squad known as the black squids encountered a small band of purist infiltrators an commandos which proved to be more then your match. By the end of the pitched battle your squad leader an company commander Horny Jack lay dead as well as his second in command first sergeant Pincer Pete. With the infiltrators and commandos making a tactical retreat and no commanding officer your squad returned to Rivergard with there disappointing first mission over. As punishment for your CO's failure your squad has been reassigned to the back water fishing village of Banner Cove until a review board at DOA command HQ in Newburg has reviewed your report. So with orders in hand your squad sets out for Banner cove with heavy hearts for your lost squad mates an understandable trepidations about your new assignment. Major Julius of Banner cove is your new commanding officer an has only recently been appointed the CO of Banner Coves defenses, so is yet untested in the towns defense. One thing is for certain, Your squad has a long road ahead of them to Banner Cove from Rivergard, roughly 55 kilometers to be exact an its going to be a long march there.

So the first day of the DOA campaign went pretty smoothly. The Black squid Detachment of DOA warriors where reassigned to Banner Cove and given 200SP to pay for there journey there. The PC Freakish Horror known as Koopa Troopa was promoted to First Corporal an acting CO of the Detachment. While making there way out of the twisted wood enroute to Banner cove the Detachment now numbering 10 men out of the original 20 were waylaid by a Platoon of Purist Conquistador commandos lead by two Cavaliers of purity. The black squids where out manned but still managed to kill all but five of the 17 combatants without losing a single man themselves. Three Conquistadors and one Cavalier of purity escaped in a rigid hull inflatable boat. One Conquistador was knocked unconscious an taken as a slave. After stripping the bodys of any armor and weapons of value into the Detachments armored wagon the acting CO Koopa Troopa order that the bodies of the fallen purist be staked to the trees to act as a warning to other purist incursions into DOA territory.

After a brief one day stop in Red Field to sell pillaged gear and heal up at the clinic the Detachment set out for Banner cove. It was a boring march from Red Field to Banner C. with no Encounters along the way accept travelling merchants and troops. The Black Squids acting CO First Corporal Koopa Troopa, Reported into Major Julius. He was pleased that the Detachment performed well on the trip despite their lack of a proper commanding officer an their previous ones failures that got them reassigned to Banner Cove in the First place. Major Julius was so pleased in fact that they did not lose a single man in the attack that he Field promoted Corporal Koopa Troopa to First Sergeant and officially gave him Command of the Black Squids. During this meeting Major Julius expressed his concern for the growing rumor of Cult activity in Banner Cove to Koopa Troopa, an his suspicions that Lord Magistrate Arretos had some type of like to it. Major Julius gave Koopa Troopa standing orders to report to the barracks with his men and begin retinue patrol missions along the northern road as soon as they where comfortable, an to keep an eye out for any suspected cult activity.

GM'S NOTE: All I have to say is that this character was made using the random generation tables and I don't think that I could have made a stranger more effective character if I tried. This Character in his Morphed state is a wrecking machine. It will be interesting and quite challenging to GM to the player of this PC to say the least. Hope everyone enjoys, he's more of a monster then a character but it was randomly rolled up as a PC lol!

It may take some time to get my head around this guy... But I definitely see how he's the mascot! In my game, "Kay-won" had a follower that used M.Morph. One of his faithful sent to proselytize in the world. It took him too long to transform, the PC's wasted him. This Bruce might fare better. Thanks.

When my player rolled him up we couldn't stop laughing it was great. The first picture that came to mind was the centaurs from the fallout games. This is definitly one creepy, ugly as hell character. His -16 APP is bad in the DOA but passable since he is a mutant, but when purists see him their gut instinct is to kill it with fire and burn the ashes, then lock whatever residue is left in a steel chest an deep six it in the ocean. We had to look in the book to see if it was possible to go into the negatives and sure enough you can. The Hazard Check chart confirms it with the very first line, it say 0-20 or lower i believe. He's going to get the Arnold schwarzenegger line from predator a lot! "Your one Ugly motherf+++er"

Of of the PC's, Randy, had negatives for the first few Ranks. Their Medbot was able to cure the chronic acne and bring it up to at least a positive number. Then Erotic Arts gave him 7 or so..

Attks/rnd is a doozy! Melee: Tentacles: 1 attk/tentacle stun (slaps) OR 3 grapple (1 grapple/2 tentacles) Arms: +1 for 2 arms (Brawling or Sword) OR 1 grapple (with 2 arms) *as per RAW, all grapple attacks can be combined on one opponent (or split for multiple grapples) "I'll grapple the brute to my immediate left with 4 tentacles (one double STR grapple attack), wrestle the crossbow away from the lady to my left with the other 2 tentacles (normal grapple attack aimed at hands) and the PSH dreadnok in my face will taste my longsword! As a HR, I'd give this guy further grapple/wrestling bonuses for the added stability of extra torso and legs(1 HR easier); but that's just me. His high school's State Conference Champion; "Go Squids!" It's up to you, but I could see firing/using one of the ranged attacks AND getting 1/2 of the tentacle attacks (3 stun damage slaps OR 1-2 grapples.* I know this guy is random (and awesome!) but MMorph is kinda wasted as far as the additional attk/rnd ("as if ambidex"). He could attack with sword and dagger at the same time (and tentacles, as above). (Although, if at higher Ranks he gets Frenzy.. damn!) OK, definitely not wasted. Each tentacle's damage is through the roof- as in he can punch through the roof! In our game, The Onyx Avenger has a prehensile monkey tail and MA. Player: "What'dya mean I can't use my MA attacks with my 11 STR tail?" GM: "So you want to know why I'm bucking your Quivering Palm technique with a tail that can just barely hold a knife..?"

Yeah when this character goes M.Morph he becomes a rampaging melee machine. After doing the math the lowest amount of DAM if all six tentacles an the sword an dagger hit is 100 points. The max if everthing hits is 310 points of DAM this is only possible during M.Morph. The PC's are soldiers in the DOA army right now, that have been newly appointed warrior status so they still have two years of army missions to accomplish in game before brranching out on their own. Bruce Banner should he survive will quickly move up in ranks for sure. The Purists Conquistadors even with maxed out health only have 50/END. When all his attacks hit one while in M.Morph he almost literally tares them apart in a bloody cloud of guts, leather and weapon shards. He does have weaknesses though with his 15/AG his -16/APP and his gross weight which i forgot to tally up and post but its a lot rest assured. Sure hope this character keeps an eye out for punji stick pits and never attepmts to climb a ruined skyscraper an miss one of his HC's.

OK, each tentacle is as strong as an arm -normal STR mods apply. 64 x 8 = 512 kg! 128 x 8 = 1024 kg!
Using tentacles and both arms Bruce is one strong son of a gun.
