Started my group on character creation and the "prologue" of my own design for my Mutilator group. I'm running Mall of Doom but started them out far from Walsave.
The characters are:
iPod, 13-year old Asian female cyborg. She was one of three triplets. She had necrotizing fasciitis as a child and her arm was replaced with a claw that can be fired out to 20 feet (attached to a cable). She also has a bionic eye that sees infrared. She has automatonophobia. She carries an UZI, a fencing sword, and wears an army helmet and umpire padding.
Rosalita Tortilla, 11 year old hermaphrodite humanoid armadillo, former gang member, who can't stand cold temperatures and is afraid of thunder & lightning. He carries pistol and wears a loose-fitting radiation suit (specially built for him by the army he was formerly a part of).
Shma, a short male human mutant with poisonous sweat and a sonic scream. (I don't have his character sheet in front of me). He carries an AK-47.
Petunia, a female human mutant with quills coming out of her abdomen, exudes a slippery slime, and mind control powers. She carries a shotgun. (there's more but I don't have her character sheet in front of me)
Two more players will be joining next session.
CHAPTER 1: THE TOWN THAT IMPLODED
Between the towns of Overpass and Bunker, there is a community where humans and mutants co-exist, working to tease methane out of the natural pockets in an otherwise radioactive bog. Recently there have been a series of earthquakes, disappearances, and sinkholes causing the community much concern. Also worrying is that the output of gas has been steadily declining over the past year. A town meeting is called but the town is split as to whether they should focus their manpower on researching the gas problems or to try to find their missing leader, the Commodore, who is a long overdue from a gas delivery in Overpass. With the head engineer, a 70 year old lady named Chex, having lost interest in providing for this group of losers anymore, little headway is gained. The self-appointed chairperson, a mutant by the name of Petunia with quills around her abdomen, storms out.
As she leaves the building, the wall sentry's wife finds that he has been shot in the head and calls for help. Petunia investigates as does Rosalita Tortilla, a mutated humanoid armadillo and the other sentry on duty. Tortilla sees some armed men hiding in the trees outside of the wall, and takes aim. Petunia calls the other warriors out of the meeting, namely Shma, a mutated human with poison sweat, and iPod, a 13 year old girl with a bionic eye and cybernetic fist that can fire out 20' on a cable. Out of the woods advances a bulldozer and a couple of ATVs along with a handful of raiders on foot. A firefight erupts and one of the raiders lobs a grenade over the wall which lands squarely at the feet of iPod, which cracks her spine and leaves her bleeding to death on the ground. Shma and Tortilla attach a stick of dynamite to a canister of compressed methane and hurl it at a couple of raiders, but Tortilla flubs his throw and it lands closer to the wall than anticipated, pushing the outer wall on top of the already mutilated iPod. Petunia, who has used her mutant power of mental domination on the driver of the bulldozer, has to leave him idling while she performs some field triage on iPod. She manages to stabilize the cyborg so she doesn't bleed out, but the girl remains unconscious.
As the raiders reach the wall, suddenly there is another earthquake, and sinkholes swallow up several of the shacks and also the main store of compressed methane. Petunia and iPod also fall into a 20' deep sinkhole, with a car teetering at the edge, threatening to fall on them from above. Tortilla heaves the car back from the danger zone, while Petunia hits the quick release button on iPod's cyborg arm, creating a lifeline between her and iPod as she begins to climb out of the sinkhole. As she does so, she finds a strange tunnel in the wall, out of which springs an enormous worm with a toothy jaw that tries to bite her, but the monster bites into her quills and subsequently retracts back into its hole. Tortilla and Shma help her climb out and then they retract the cable on iPod's arm which pulls her up out of the sinkhole. As Petunia drags iPod toward the only remaining car in the compound, Tortilla is attacked by one of the tunneler-worms but survives and follows the ladies.
Petunia has lost her mental domination on the bulldozer driver, but he sees that all of his support has been swallowed up by the earth and decides to high-tail it out of there. Meanwhile Tortilla starts up the SUV and with everyone in the back he drives carefully over the chain link fence and out into the swamp. With the entire community either having died in the earthquake or being eaten by the tunneler-worms, there is no reason for the four survivors to remain, and so they head towards Overpass.
Next time: Into the Wasteland.

That town just got owned lol! It did not last very long at all. I hope your players know that gas is expensive, that if they make it to overpass on the one tank of gas they have, that they will probably have to sell off the SUV in order to survive. Otherwise great begining adventure torenatkinson ! Cant wait to hear what happens next.

CHAPTER TWO: WONTON'S SALVATION A few weeks ago, the leader of the community of Fire Swamp, known as The Commodore, drove a delivery truck full of bio-gas towards Overpass to trade. He brought with him four of his trusted men: two pureblood humans (Combo and Wonton), a humanoid fly mutant named Apox, and Peepaw,a humanoid raccoon with a psychic attack, chameleon fur, an atrophied brain, giant ears and cynophobia (fear of dogs). In the ruins of some old town, the van ran over some nail strips that some wasteland asshole had laid down over the road, leaving them with no way to continue driving to Overpass. The Commodore decided that Wonton and Combo and himself would continue on foot towards Overpass in hopes of finding some help, leaving Peepaw and Apox to watch over the van full of biogas, which they have pushed into an alley and camouflaged. That was just over a week ago, and Peepaw and Apox are out of food. Meanwhile, after a lunch of fruit cake, hot chocolate powder and fruit roll ups, Rosalita Tortilla, iPod, Shma and Petunia are driving in the truck following more or less the same route as the van. As they almost pass by the van, Peepaw flags them down. They decide to take the wheels off the truck and put them on the van. They also attach two seats to the top of the van for lookouts. As the sun sets, they decide to go out into the ruins to try to scavenge for food. They uncover a nest of giant radioactive cockroaches and a fight for survival ensues. Nobody is badly hurt but rads are accumulated by all during the fight. Having killed all of the cockroaches they search the building that the bugs infested and find sleeping bags, umbrellas, a robot arm and artificial leg as well as a car battery. They sleep through the night and drive on. As they enter the next ancient municipality, Peepaw's keen ears hear gunshots. They park the van and sneak up on a scene of harrowing combat. They see that a bunch of humans trapped inside a diner as bear-sized wolves with large scorpion tails try to get at them. They also hear Wonton's voice yell out to Combo. Peepaw sneaks around to the back of the diner but spies a bunch of dogs inside along with the humans, and her cynophobia kicks in. She runs away from the door and up a fallen telephone pole until she gets to the top of the diner. Meanwhile, iPod climbs on top of an overturned fire truck as Rosalita and Shma hide inside a burned out car, trying to get a clear shot at one of the sting-tailed monstrosities. The dogs break out of the diner and begin snapping at the monster while the others let loose with rifles and cyborg-arms. Peepaw sneaks across the roof of the diner but her weight is too much for it and it caves in. Wonton calls out to her but she immediately jumps back out as the dogs bark at her. Outside, another two of the wolfscorps crack open the dumpster that Combo was hiding in. Each monster grabs an end of Combo and they tear him apart. Just as iPod and Rosalita finish off the brown wolfscorp in a hail of bullets, the black wolfscorp jumps up onto the roof of the diner and sinks its teeth into Peepaw. Peepaw tears free and jumps into a nearby tree. Then the black wolfscorp jumps down into the diner and start tearing into the humans who have barricaded themselves in. Shwa comes to their rescue, breaking open a window and firing at the beast with his AK-47, while Peepaw tosses a tear gas grenade into the diner. They finish off the last two wolfscorps finally. Finally with a breather, Wonton explains how his group was intercepted by some missionaries from a farming settlement called Walsave. He explains that the missionaries were from the Temple of Kwon, and they took them back to Walsave where the prophet Kwon converted the Commodore and Combo to Kwonism. Wonton did not convert, but followed the Commodore's orders to return to Fire Swamp and prepare the coming of Kwon, for now the Fire Swamp and all its biogas should be at Kwon's disposal. The other humans with Wonton are not Kwonites, but followers of the Bringer of Light. They are not religious fanatics but have taken the opportunity to travel with Wonton back to Fire Swamp in hope of recruiting some capable warriors to help investigate the mysterious disappearances that have been happening at Walsave. The residents of Fire Swamp tell nobody that the town no longer exists (see chapter 1). Benwad, the Walsave representative, tells the warriors that they will be paid in teeth, food, and gear if they will help Walsave with its disappearance problems. The group agrees. After searching the area (and finding a SAM, radiation suit and 24 cans of alphabet pasta), the group moves on. Wonton and the rest of the former Fire Swampians advance in the van, telling Benwad and his people to catch up. Killed a PC in tonight's session (Apox the humanoid mutant fly).
CHAPTER 3: THE REAPER TRAP
The group from Fire Swamp tell Benwad and his cronies to go on back to Walsave and that they'll catch up there in the morning (not letting Benwad see the van full of gas). They rest up for the night.
In the morning they search around in the area and scavenge a few scraps of ammo and meds in the ruins of a gas station and insurance building. Then they drive on towards Walsave.
About an hour or so into the drive, they approach an overpass and Rosalita thinks she sees some movement in the rubble. She stops the car. Peepaw the raccoon gets out and sneaks on close to the overpass while Rosalita detects the scent of chicken and unbathed human in the ruins of a building next to them. Apox the fly-person buzzes over to a nearby car at which he detects life (with his mutant power) and two raiders with rifles take shots at him, wounding him. At the sound of the guns, a horse attached to a pully system on top of the overpass lowers a barrier so that the van can't drive through, and a bunch of other raiders pop out from behind cars and pillars, including one raider riding a mutated chicken the size of an elephant. Apox flies up to the overpass where two naked berserkers are screaming at him and he manages to successfully intimidate them. Unfortunately, the boss-raider (named Kodiak) shoots Apox dead with his submachine gun.
Peepaw slingshots a frag mine at a couple of raiders and kills one of them, the other tries to fire back but his pistol explodes, so he chases her with a knife. The giant chicken pulls Shma out of the van with its beak and begins to chew on him, or at least perform a close approximation. Rosalita throws some dynamite and fractures the bird's hip but it manages to stay upright. One of the raiders gains entrance to the van but Wonton points his pistol at the Mk-54 ten ton yield nuclear projectile in a threatening manner and the raider runs off yelling "they've got a nuke!"
As the raiders Kodiak, Jonny Crossbow and the two berserkers enter the scene clustered together, Peepaw lobs another frag mine at them and mutilates all of them, including splashing toxic waste all over Jonny Crossbow, who runs off. Shma uses his sonic shout and stuns the giant chicken, and then pulls free of its beak. After plugging the chicken with what seem like dozens of bullet holes and even a serrated hubcap, iPod finally delivers the killing blow, and the rider scrambles away into the ruins.
After killing about five raiders, the remainder of them retreat, leaving the wasteland heroes to loot the bodies and butcher up the giant chicken. They notice that all of the raiders (except the naked berserker twins) are wearing sports jerseys that read "REAPERS."
They drive on towards Walsave, but before they reach the settlement, they hide their van in a dilapidated barn and set out to walk the rest of the way, bearing the gift of a giant chicken.

CHAPTER 4: THE TUNNELS BENEATH WALSAVE
Benwad of the town council of elders welcomes the adventurers into Walsave. When he learns that the gift of giant chicken came from the Reapers gang of marauders and learns that some of the Reapers survived the encounter with the heroes from Fire Swamp, he looks very nervous indeed. He thanks the heroes but has his minions scurry away quietly with the carcass of the giant chicken. He brushes off queries about the Reapers as something they can discuss "tomorrow."
The first stop in Walsave is to the healer Hannah Sixfingers, who plies her trade on their tender wounds. Next, the group spends some teeth at the town trading post and they buy some ammo, water and drugs (Benwad secures them a 20% discount). They are fed a meal of fresh yak and vegetables and put up in the stables, though Shma - who is equinophobic - chooses to sleep at the church of the Light Bringers.
Benwad brings the heroes to the house of the Lastic family who disappeared 4 days ago. Rosalita smells a weird smell at one spot on the floor and Shma detects a hollow area beneath the floor. They rip up the floor and find an underground tunnel, which they decide to investigate in the morning.
Overnight, Hannah Sixfingers operates on iPod's spine successfully, and provides him with some painkillers.
In the morning, the group heads down into the tunnel and find a junction cave with four other tunnels. They take the first one which leads to a subway tunnel. The tunnel takes them to a room with an elevator but they have to get through a giant centipede which is feasting on the corpse of a humanoid. After they kill the bug they find piles of bones at the bottom of the elevator shaft. Looking up, they see what looks like daylight but it's not safe to climb so they turn around.
Down the second tunnel from the junction cave, the tunnel splits again and they find themselves in an ancient structure of old sewers and collapsed basements, covered in vines, fungus, and other vegetation. They detect some crocodilian humanoids who look like they're ready to pounce, so the heroes act first, aiming and moving into tactical positions. Eventually Rosalita gets so close to one of them that they burst from their hiding places and begin throwing spears and trying to club the heroes. Rosalita takes a few hits from spears and clubs but pulls a wrestling move on one of the crocs, pulling him off a ledge and landing on him 10 feet below. One of the other crocs tries to jump over some suspicious foliage and gets trapped in some kind of animated entangling vine. The other crocs try to run away but only one of the five creatures manages to survive and flee. The group finds that the crocs only had fish, rats and other small prey on them - obviously some kind of hunting party. They determine that the crocs are not the group responsible for the Walsave disappearances.

CHAPTER 4: THE TUNNELS BENEATH WALSAVE They detect some crocodilian humanoids who look like they're ready to pounce..My guys never found the lizards. I guess they're still down there, somewhere. We could have a few more sessions cleaning out the tunnels and exploring those ruins. Hannah saved my players more than once. I wonder if the original playtests were so brutal that WM put her in, after the fact? Thanks for the update!

CHAPTER FIVE: CROCOPOLIS
Further exploring the overgrown sewers with no clues, the group heads back and down another passageway. They notice a tripline for a deadfall trap along the corridor, and iPod makes an attempt to disable it. She fails however, and takes the full brunt of the spikey log. With the trap sprung, they forge ahead until they reach an underground lake, across which is some sort of settlement lit by a single campfire, with a waterfall off to the side. The group traverses across a catwalk skirting the lake and get the drop on a single croc-man. It calls out for help as Wonton charges it with a baseball bat. More crocs spill out from the tents and shacks on this giant pile of debris. Petunia's shotgun epically fails and explodes in her hand, but Shma uses his sonic scream to stun most of the croc people. Just as they seem to gain the upper hand, the big boss croc arrives on the scene and uses his rebar & concrete club to smash Wonton right over the village fence and into the lake beyond. Wonton climbs onto the dock but is attacked by an enormous crocodile with a jaws the size of a man. He tries to flee from the monster but the boss croc-man blocks his way, and the monster reptile tears off Wonton's arm and drags him into the water, never to be seen again.
iPod fills the boss croc-man full of bullets and the heroes make short work of the remaining enemies. They find eggs and young harmless croc-people but leave them there after rummaging through the village for loot and clues as to whether or not these croc-men were responsible for the disappearances in Walsave, but it's obvious that there is no evidence. They do however find a child-size exoskeleton. As they are scavenging, the survivor from the previous encounter in the overgrown sewers returns to the croc-village. The heroes take up tactical positions out of sight, and when they start firing on the lone croc-man he retreats back into the tunnels.
The heroes go back to the junction cave and head down the west tunnel. Shma steps in a bear trap but it's so old and rusty it doesn't even penetrate his boots. They arrive in a chamber that's been blocked off by an improvised fence made from branches, bones, rebar, and other old junk, complete with a grate for a door that's locked with an old-world padlock. Behind the fence is another passage leading on but also a human figure slumped behind some debris. iPod calls out to her and a young girl rouses from her stupor, then calls out for them to hurry and bust through the gate so she can go back to Walsave. As the heroes work on the padlock with a crowbar, they hear a horrible keening further down the passageway beyond. The young girl, Rebecca, begs them to hurry. Finally the heroes break the lock and pull Rebecca through, and iPod uses a combination lock she salvaged on some previous encounter to reseal the gate as they head back up to Walsave.
Once they come to the surface, their route is blocked by a procession of the Kwonites, all dressed in red and parading through town with Kwon lifted on a litter. Some squat Kwonite with bulging eyes sizes up the adventurers and the Commodore is also in the procession, chanting away with the rest of them. He sees the former residents of Fire Swamp and gives them a look as if to say "I'll talk with you later" but does not leave the procession. It passes, and the group carries on to Rebecca's home, where her father, a member of the Lightbringer church, is ecstatic to see her and offers the heroes all his savings. They refuse and decide to go find Benwad. Benwad is excited to hear about their progress. Rebecca had told them how she was kidnapped and taken over the wall in the night by walking corpses, and taken to a dark room filled with other victims, many of whom were not from Walsave at all - caravaners travellers from Overpass, and so forth. She told how she heard drumming, chanting and screams down underneath Walsave.
Benwad offers to send some Walsave militiamen down with the heroes back into the tunnels the next day, and there is even talk of a bonus!
After the heroes eat their meal and are about to settle in to bed, Rebecca visits the stables and gives the group an old family heirloom - a "smart gun" pre-cataclysm weapon. iPod had heard of such a thing, it's a multipurpose stun gun but it's in bad need of repair. iPod cannibalizes a mini microwave oven the group scavenged to replace some parts in the gun, making it serviceable.

iGun The iGun is a versatile electronic pistol weapon. Also called a “smart gun”, the iGun has a computer interface, a hard drive, and can be locked with a password. It comes with a rechargeable battery but also can be recharged using its small but efficient solar panel. It also serves as a radio, calculator, clock, music player, and a light source similar to a standard flashlight. In close quarters, the iGun can be used as an electroshock gun as a melee weapon, but also can fire it's “stinger line” - a 20 foot long retractable cable with an electrically charged prong tip. For long range uses, the iGun emits Pulsed Energy Projectiles (PEP) composed of deuturium fluoride laser pulses which, upon contact with the target, ablates the surface and creates a small amount of exploding plasma. This produces a pressure wave that stuns the target and knocks them off their feet, and electromagnetic radiation that affects nerve cells causing a painful sensation It can be fired single shot or fully automatic. Headphones not included. SKILL: Melee (electroshock) or Gun (Stinger Line or PEP) RANGE: (20' for stinger line) POWER SOURCE: Chemical battery (20 charges). Recharges 1 charge per hour in direct sunlight. DAMAGE: Victim is -20 to skills and Move Rate for 1d10 minutes, and must make an opposed Endure check vs 50 or be stunned until successful Endure check made (once per round). Note: Only insulating armor, such as rubber, protects against electroshock damage, in which case add the armor's DR as a bonus to your Endure check. EPIC FAIL: 90/96/00 BASE VALUE: 100 teeth
